I'm certain there are MANY peace loving Palestinians who are caught up in this mess, but they can't seem to do anything about the many bad apples in their bunch. Other nations continue to stir the pot. I think I completely understand why the Israelis are sensitive.
Israel seizes ship with Iran arms for Gaza-Netanyahu
JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli naval commandos on Tuesday seized a cargo ship in the Mediterranean carrying what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said were Iranian-supplied weapons intended for Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip…
In 2009, about 100 miles off Israel's Mediterranean coast, Israeli commandos seized the Francop, a freighter the Israeli military said was carrying hundreds of tonnes of Iranian arms, including rockets, to Lebanon's Hezbollah group.
Nine years ago, Israeli forces intercepted the merchant ship Karine-A in the Red Sea and brought it to the Israeli port of Eilat, where the military displayed 50 tonnes of weapons, including rockets, which Israel said Iran had sent to Palestinian militants.
Photo, we have a tea-party meeting tomorrow night, please wear your "hope and change" t-shirt when you come and visit. You may get some odd looks, but that's all that will happen to you.
Locaded in the geographic center of the Islamic world, NYU-Abu Dhabi was funded by the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed - son of the country's founder, Sheikh Zayed (and brother of the country's president - Sheikh Khalifa).
NYU-Abu Dhabi has a Vice Chancellor named Al Bloom - who was recruited from the presidency of Swarthmore College, to come serve the Arab World's newest elite institution. NYU recruited another individual - Ron Robin - as Senior Vice Provost (in charge of recruiting).
It's not a state secret ---- Both Bloom and Robin ---- are Jewish.
The last time I was in the Middle East - I also ran into Abe Foxman - who wasn't hiding his star.
Look - most (about two-thirds) of the Palestinians that I knew were Christian Palestinians. Maybe they're more into the "turn the other cheek" thing.
Stop living with so much fear and trembling. Fear is for God - the rest of of us are merely men.
Being Jewish and living in a Capitol City, working for the State or in this case, The University, Liberal BTW, is totally different from living out away from them in the Gaza Strip, in one of the settlements, etc. In Jerusalem there isn't overt Anti-Semitism until there is an attack, same in Tel Aviv or any other heavily populated area.
Your example again, makes sense to you. You are fortunate, to not be Jewish and freely working or visiting in the Middle East. We are talking Israel, not Abu Dhabi.
Of interest to me is how they know the perpetrator was Palestinian. I saw an article yesterday that said this had not yet been proven.
Perhaps someone could answer this question: is Hebrew on Hebrew homicide unheard of or is it a given that it had to be a Palestinian? Could it be someone trying to derail the peace process that is neither?
Since I posted the OP, I will try to explain a little further to you Kresspin. Yes, it is possible that an incident could be as you say, Hebrew on Hebrew. I'm sure that Israel is not without crime between people, though not likely. Please refer to the second story of Palestinians celebrating this horrendous crime.
Five Israelis murdered by Palestinians at Itamar were Gaza evacuees
DEBKAfile Special Report March 12, 2011, 9:53 AM (GMT+02:00)
The five members of the Israeli family murdered at Itamar on the West Bank, Friday night, March 11, have been identified as Udi Vogel, 38, the father; his wife Ruth Vogel, 35, their sons Yoav, 11 and Elad, 3 and their four-month old daughter Hadas. The three children who survived are Roi, 8, Yishai, 2 and their sister Tamar, aged 12, who found the victims when she arrived home later that night.
The family moved to Itamar after Jewish communities were forcibly evicted from the Gaza Strip in 2007 as part of the Sharon government's disengagement plan.
The terrorists had broken through the fence guarding the sleeping settlement and entered the Vogel home through an open window without raising an alarm.
Military and police units fanned out to hunt the perpetrators and set up checkpoints. Hamas websites hailed the murder as a "heroic operation," without taking responsibility.
This attack is the first of its kind in years. Hamas Websites hailed the murder as "heroic," without taking responsibility.
