I'm still wondering about the lyrics to the song that were posted:

What a field day for the heat
a thousand people in the street
singin songs that they carry inside
mostly say hurray for our side

It's time we stop,
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

There are lawyer strikes deep
into your life it will creep
it starts when your always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away

Why would a lawyer strike deep? It sounded to me like they sang "Paranoia strikes deep. Into your life it will creep." (something for everyone to remember)

The first reference about carrying songs inside?? Sounded to me me like they sang "singing songs and carryin' signs" which fits with what the next line is saying "mostly say hooray for our side."

I read it is one of quintessential anti-war protest songs (along with "Blowing In The Wind"). Wish I had been around then. It would have been interesting to see.

Mondegreens. You're right about the lyrics - I didn't even see it (been skipping through this thread) and it's one of my favorite songs.
