I got an evacuation notice text alert and I don't live anywhere near there.
Can I go home now?
We got an alert too - thought maybe it was because they were fearful of the winds shifting, but we are north and west of the target area. We packed up the cars and spent a sleepless night nonetheless.

"About 22 percent of the people who should have received calls did not," Jefferson County Spokeswoman Jacki Kelley told 9Wants to Know Thursday.

I got an evacuation call and I live a mile from Evergreen Lake. I too hope I get to go home soon.
I heard their software lets them set the radius around the event for the emergency alert notification calls, which they did, but in their haste they hit the "send all" button instead.
Still, it's nice to be able to be notified by SMS when something's going on at home and I'm no where near a computer.
