Anyone hear how Alco is doing?

We stopped in the other day to look for a smaller radio with detachable speakers (someone told us they had one) and we were the only ones besides the employees there.

We didn't find a radio everything now seems to be I-Pod related.

Until that happens, if people have to go to town for one thing they will most likely buy other things too. At least that is how I see it. I think that is why it is so hard to keep some of these places.

Wait a second..You can't say nothin, you live in Aurora

HOW DARE YOU!

You don't think I know you all and your community from working on this site? If I am wrong say so...... LOL

I'll say so. I don't get anyone from another community that continually chimes in with their opinion about how it ought to be up here. Why not start a "Centennial Bound" site and post your .02 there?

Safeway Center getting what it deserves. They didn't do their homework. Built it in a lousy spot with lousy southern exposure, water issues, high rents, not enough people to support the businesses. They deserve to fail.

IN NOVEMBER 2014, WE HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAN OUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND ONE-THIRD OF THE SENATE! DONT BLOW IT!

Someone pee on you or something?

So if you live in another community you can't know or understand any other community?

We have a smokyhillbound.com site. I was stating what I see and feel free to post on smokyhillbound.com about our community. I was not trying to be negative I was stating something I have seen up there. I will shut up if you don't want my opinion, I am fine with that.

OK, I'll say it. I live up here. I work in Denver. I'd love to work up here, but the jobs aren't here - why? because we ARE a bedroom community. I shop for some things in Denver because it is easier, I shop at KS because the produce doesn't spoil in a day. I love the Pine Feed store and Big R- they both have things I need. I love the book store, even though I don't go often. But Walmart, Sam's Club, Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby, Thompson's Hobby and Crafts are all in Denver(yes, there is a Walmart in Evergreen, takes me just as long to get to it as it does Denver)

If Alco had put in a real version of their store, not the dumbed down, Dollar General version of their store, they'd be doing a LOT better, and I'd do 98% of my shopping right up here.

So, I get to speak, having lived right on up here on and off since 1980- long before Safeway was this side of the hill, back when Safeway was IT for Evergreen.

I buy mostly in Denver or thereabouts because prices are better and I am there a lot of the time.

As a thank you to SC though for use of her website I also make a point of finding one of her advertisers, checking them out and if they have something I want, purchase it.

My mom loves the yarn I picked up at Knit Knook.

Well I've lived up here steady (not on and off) since the mid 90's, and my Pioneer license plates give me the right to criticise the Safeway Center, but like the other mountain natives here I just don't want any flat landers doing it. It's our problem, we can deal with it without outside input from Aurora.
