Notes from the
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Briefing
this morning:
Cassie Pierce, Director of Public Affairs, Jeffco Emergency Management Office - they are grateful for, but discouraging, donations of items at this time as they have no place to put them.
Stacee Martin, PIO & Assistant Fire Chief, Evergreen Fire - explained more about the Hotshots (see below)
Mark Techmeyer, PIO JCSO - the fire laid down last night, no structures lost. Fire has gotten to within 1/4 mile of a home, saving homes and preventing the fire from jumping to the north side of Deer Creek Canyon Rd is their #1 priority today.
5 firefighters were injured on the fire yesterday, 1 suffered a seizure, 4 heat exhaustion. Several of those with heat exhaustion are back on the fire today.
The San Juan Hotshots arrived yesterday and will be a huge help on this terrain attacking the fire from the ground while air support continues. Temps are forecast for 98 degrees, but the humidity should be a bit higher which will help.
Mandatory evacuation neighborhoods remain the same, pre-evacs include Oehlman Park and Homestead South (although we've heard from residents in other neighborhoods that they've received calls for pre-evac, we'll update as soon as we see official word).
The next briefing will be at 2pm today, the fire will be mapped again to get another estimate on size.
