#QuarryFire: Vegetation fire Homewood Park Ave and S Deer Creek Canyon Rd

We offer a tremendous THANK YOU to our community for all of the support you've shown this week, it's touched our hearts and further strengthened our resolve to continue fighting hard. At this time, we cannot accept donations of items as we don't have a place to store it all, and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has requested the same for the #QuarryFire. www.jeffco.us/FormCenter/Public-Affairs-...re-Donation-Form-409 We'd recommend contacting Mountain Resource Center to see if they are helping any evacuees and may be in need for that effort, or their food pantry.

One way you can help is to support Foothills Animal Shelter, who is hosting evacuated small animals. Pet food, pet supplies, and monetary donations will go a long way! You can donate at foothillsanimalshelter.org/donate-online/ . The Jefferson County Colorado Fairgrounds are holding larger animals that have been evacuated, please contact them to find out if they are in need of any donations. www.jeffco.us/862/General-Information

Thank you again, we appreciate all of you.

The West Ranch neighborhood is now under pre-evacuation.
To clarify on the pre-evacuation for Homestead South, that includes the Jennings planning unit, not Homestead (north of 285).
You can view the Planning Units map on Elk Creek Fire's Wildland website under Community Ambassadors (and connect with your Community Ambassador to receive additional fire district information): experience.arcgis.com/experience/ec82ad4...mmunity-Ambassadors/

Jeffco Sheriff 5:26pm:
#QuarryFire is now 450 acres with 0% containment. Although there was growth, the acreage burned was open space land. Overall, the fire was less active today and progress was made. We anticipate cooperative weather tonight and tomorrow, and continued helicopter support tomorrow. We also have an additional hand crew coming in tonight to add to the 155 firefighters we currently have on the ground. #COFire

CPW 8:17am:
Chatfield Reservoir will be OPEN to boating and water recreation today. #QuarryFire operations with the belly planes has finished. Helicopters may still be in the area, but they can work around the boats.

For those who’ve been issued pre-evacuations, the Rotary Wildfire Ready app and website has great instructions on what to do to your home to prepare and what to pack in your Go Bag(s). Plan to be displaced for multiple days and pack accordingly, with road closures, you may not be able to get back in. Be sure to take video or pictures of every room/drawer/closet/storage space in your house and as much of the contents as you can before you go. Narrate a video with where you bought any big ticket or precious items (if you have receipts, put those out and film that paperwork too). Just in case the worst happens, it’ll be a lot easier to itemize everything for insurance if you have that record.

In addition to videoing the contents of your home with receipts if you have them in order to document your belongings. Something else to do is to call your insurance company and review your wildfire coverage. Many folks in the Marshall Fire had insurance, but we’re vastly under-insured. They received payouts to rebuild, but only what amounted to $150/sq ft, for example, when current building prices were $350/sq ft and then they needed another home loan in order to make up the difference. Please check into your coverage and if you are able, increase it to cover that higher price per square foot rebuild cost.

Here is an update on #QuarryFire activities from this morning's Operations briefing:

Fire:
The fire is 433 acres. Fire behavior overnight moderated with high humidity and there was some single tree torching. There is still a lot of heat in the fire area (particularly on the west side) with significant potential for active fire behavior. The last MMA (Multi Mission Aircraft flight) did not show any heat north of Deer Creek Canyon Rd.

The investigation into cause continues with “preliminary” belief that it is human caused, per the investigator.

Operations activity: Firefighters are constructing handline near the fire’s edge on the south perimeter, and dozers are constructing dozer line. Crews are scouting for opportunities to construct fire line in other more challenging areas of the terrain. Aerial resources continue supporting firefighters on the ground. There is a structure protection group working in neighborhoods to assess protection needs.

Weather: Temperatures today will be cooler than the past two days, with a high of 87F. There is potential for afternoon storms with some gusty and erratic winds, which could increase fire behavior. Saturday returns to mostly dry weather - hot with low humidity. The chance of storms will move back into the area Sunday and Monday.

In case of emergency, please dial 911.
