Interesting subject. Makes me wonder why in these times there is more ADHD, ADD etc. Food? hospital care, pharmecutical stuff prior to birth?
Saw a show about diabetes and how the # of people with it have soared over tha last decade, due to a number of reasons all man made.
Dr's hand out prescriptions like candy and they really have NO idea what they are, because a Sales rep claims the results from his company so it must be good..

I'm glad it worked out for her. The variety in the individual stories of ADD/ADHD is truly astounding.

It's because the doctors are compensated for perscribing the drugs...
I don't think there is evidence there is more ADD/ADHD today than there ever was. However, the world we live in can make it more difficult to cope for someone whose brain is wired in this particular way. As someone commented on earlier in this thread, ADD/ADHD can be an advantage in some situations, a handicap in others.

rldbaily, sorry for the accusatory tone, but the 'zombie' reference provoked an emotional response. I can and will now reply better - I agree that meds are not needed in all cases. Since ADD and ADHD are treated with stimulants, I fail to see how any of them could possibly cause a state of mind that could in any way be compared to a zombie.
To me it's sort of like people that drink those energy drinks. They get all jazzed up and then they crash and burn. Why can't a stimulant drug cause a similar or counteractive effect? Makes me wonder????????
