Why would we do that? Unlike the Jews, we had a place to go home to. Everyone on this planet wants a place where they can live in peace, but as we know, not everyone is willing to allow that peace. Every time Israel makes a compromise, they get hit. If you were a Jew, would you trust the Palestinians and all the countries that surround Israel?

But think about this.....if we had taken portions of Germany, and Italy and Japan.....and told those nations that Americans would now be living there, that they had to move out, would they have been OK with that? Would it have been right?

None of us here are going to solve the Israel/Palestine issue.....only they can do that.......And I can see both sides of the issue which is what makes it so hard. I do not condone the terrorist type attacks done by the palestinians and I do not condone the settling of Israelis on another's land. I think they are both wrong. As long as both keep on with what they are doing, there will never be peace, and there will never be security for Israel. I think Obama was doing nothing more than what every other US president has done about this issue, trying to urge the two sides to talk, giving them some possible compromises, and hoping that the two sides would once again come together and talk, and possibly find peace and compromise preferable to war. I don't hold much hope for that, but I don't see where nmysys gets off saying that what Obama has done is throwing Israel under the bus. Unless he cares to say the same about every other president and country who has tried to get Israel to help build a lasting peace between the two.

This could have been an interesting and informative discussion....I freely admit to not being well informed about Israel and all that has occurred since WWII. I do know it's been a rocky road for them and for the people who called that area home before Israel was formed.

I probably shouldn't have jumped into the debate at all.....and I usually don't when I feel like I don't know enough to form a well thought out opinion. If the OP had been more measured, not so inflamatory, and had actually discussed the issue rather than just bashed the president, I think this thread would have developed quite differently, and maybe I would have learned more and been able to form an educated opinion. We are sometimes our own worst enemies on this board.....it's all bait and bash. Not a good learning environment.
