If the land's for "self-defense" then why are they building suburban housing tracts on it instead of military bases?
Man there are some thick heads out there!
It's their land! They can do whatever they want with it.
You said five minutes ago they needed it for "self defense". Please explain to us how suburban tract housing contributes to the self defense of Israel.

And on top of that you have a lot of company!
now you are calling me names....get a grip nmysys, your are losing ground fast here. Obama did not throw Israel under the bus, he hasn't said anything worse than most other presidents.....your title is a lie born out of your hatred for the man. We all know you cannot be objective about what Obama does, so we have to read your threads with that caveat.

Let me try putting this in another way. Can you please explain to us how you perceive invading another country and taking its land to be justifable as an act of self-defense.
Israel is a tiny speck of land- it can not have it's enemies massing arms 20 miles away from it and be secure. What they did in 1967 was extremely reasonable.
The winner of wars gets to set the winning terms- for Israel it took land ajacent to it as a buffer between it's enemies. I don't know what's so hard to understand about that. Israel won- the arabs lost.

Netanyahu Urges U.S. Return to 1845 Borders
Israeli PM calls for "just solution" to end the conflict.
Aboard Air Force Aleph (Reuters) – Speaking to reporters accompanying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his long flight to the United States tonight, Netanyahu spoke of the injustice and hardship Mexicans have endured since American forces annexed Texas in 1845. "Tens of thousands of ordinary Mexicans were driven out of their homes – the only homes they had known for centuries – and forced to live in poverty and squalor south of the border imposed by American aggression," Netanyahu said. "The Israeli and Mexican people agree on this: This festering wound will never heal until America takes bold steps to return to the internationally accepted lines of 1845. Clearly the settlement activity that's taken place in occupied Mexico since then is illegal. When I meet the President tomorrow I will tell him to halt all building activity in Texas immediately. Two lands for two peoples, yes, but not on land taken by force from Mexico," the Prime Minister said.
Asked if his hard-line stance could hurt the U.S.-Israel relationship, Netanyahu reiterated Israel's commitment to America's security and the unshakeable friendship shared by the two countries, then added, "But who was it who said, part of friendship is being able to tell your friend the truth. The ball is now in Obama's court."

You do realize that no country, not even the U.S. recognizes the settlements in the West Bank as legal or legitimate, do you not?
