Apples and oranges, of course it was romanticized but the 2 movies are not comparable. Patton was a great movie regardless of your politics.

You mean two lies equal a truth? Not buyin it Major

major bean wrote: Consider this, VL: a person only suspects of others what he knows of himself. The reason that you believe that there might be falsehood being told here is because you know that you are a fake and a liar.
VL, you have told us more of yourself than you realize.

Why don't you condense that to "it takes one to know one"?

And you're being one right now MB-Not buyin it

VL, your posts are quotes that you hear on a gradeschool playground. Have you not progressed beyond that?
As for my uncle's experience, believe it or don't believe. Your opinion matters not.

Regards,
Major Bean

You do know that the movie is nothing like reality right? A lot of dramatic lisence's were taken out when they made that one. Please friends...Lets not get our history from Hollywood Productions please...?

BTW JMC, I saw the film in 1970 at the Des Plains theater, so I had the experience you had last night...... 41 years ago. I was impressed, but not nearly as much as you seem to be. I gave it a B+ then, and a F- now

Of course it was a movie dickweed, not stupid, just a great movie.

It was then, but so was the Towering Inferno. It just doesn't stand the test of time.

When was the last time you watched it? I hadn't seen it in 20 years, way better than Inferno.

I stumbled on it a few years ago while flipping through channels and I was suprised at how cartoonish it was...It is widely viewed by most experts as most unrealistic movie ever made.

I watched All Quiet on the Western Front.

I bet 1000 guys served under Patton, but 100,000 claimed to have. What are the odds of having two guys here having relatives who served under Patton...I'm saying....1- 1500,000,000. Just sayin

Patton commanded the Third Army which consisted of between 250,000 and 300,000 soldiers.

I guess you have no depth of thinking, not too surprised. Not a cartoon at unless you are a shallow soul.

So there are literally millions and millions of people walking around that can make the claim that some distant reletive fought with Patton then? I still put the odds at around 1-1000,000 then. I believe JMC, but The Major doth protests too much methinks

I'm not comparing the movies- I'm saying that it was good for 1970, but it's comical now, much like the Towering Inferno, the Posidan Adventure, or Billy Jack. Blockbusters in thier time, a joke now.

Dr. Strangelove is dated now too, but one of the best movies ever. Don't get your point.
