Doesn't = Selfish and entitled and will come up with excuses.

Can't = Either deaf/mute or lazy

And enough about the hardships of your family. My entire family line is from Italy and I never ONCE heard any of them use harship, war or even the great depression as excuses for sh**. FOOL.

Disagree with the "can't". I sat in from of Rosetta Stone for weeks trying to pick up Spanish. It just doesn't click with me. My brain doesn't work that way. If it was in numbers, maybe.

My grand parents came her legally in 1901, they never spoke English, I never spoke Italian. My uncles, all 11, served in WW2, Both my grand parents had to get pics taken and registered during the war.they did all and complied. Never complained Language means nothing , they sacrificed as much for this country as the pilgrims.
Narrow minded bigoted BS. You make me question .......never mind. I don't want to hate you racist scum. I would prefer to think you are all just really stupid.

Once again. In english.

You couldn't have missed my point any more if you tried.

Okay, another Bozo, it is easy, my grandparents got here in 1901 (all 4) I was born in 1952, none ever spoke English, they produced 11 sons that fought in WW2 against Italy. I never spoke Italian, never communicated with them with out a parent translating. They never wanted me to learn Italian for fear of being pegged as a " ginker" They loved, contributed and worked their asses off to make a better life for their children.
You lost site of what makes this country great and I can't fix racist stupidity. I am an American success story . You narrow minded fools would cut that opportunity off over someone that doesn't or can't learn the "language"? Fools!

Again, you completely missed my point about limiting yourself with a language barrier.

It was elected as the language, so deal with it.

It was "elected" as the language? Did you graduate from elementary school? Besides the fact that you can't write coherently, there is no official language of the USA......

I think I got it! It was a stupid arrogant comment ( not racist) I never learned Italian even as it was spoken all around me. They discouraged it and I was trying to just learn and pass English. If I moved to any other country , I would struggle with the language. Get over it . It is so fricking irrelevant to what makes a good citizen.

Here's the full exchange. Looks like Bailey Bud was right - he was more comfortable making his point in Spanish.

Two minutes into Antolin Aguirre’s testimony, Sen. Chris Harris, a Republican from Arlington, interrupted asking Aguirre’s interrupter, "Did I understand him correctly that he has been here since 1988?" Harris asked. "Why aren’t you speaking in English then?"

Through his interpreter, Aguirre said Spanish is his "first language and since it is his first time giving testimony he would rather do it in Spanish."
"It is insulting to us," Sen. Harris fired back. "It is very insulting. And if he knows English, he needs to be speaking in English."

No you still don't get it. Let me spell it out for you.

When a person lives in another country and does not speak the native language they limit themselves in many ways. Whether it hinders them from advancing financially, socially, or being unable to fully experience the culture and history of their surroundings, being unable to engage in meaningful conversation will limit their experience.

That was the full extent of my initial post. It's really very simple. You are evidently too full of anger and devoid of comprehension to understand it, so you make ignorant, baseless accusations, and look rather foolish in doing so.
