Maybe they wanted to go back to the original version....haven't the conservatives been rallying around the idea of going back to what our founders intended...well the pledge was without God until the 1950s. Its how the pledge was intended to be.
You can't ask questions in generic form because some on here will just run with it to bring their own points across totally missing your point. So I believe your question is asking, if they were just going to appologize for taking out 'Under God' knowing that the majority of American's find that offensive, then why show a commercial like that in the first place?
Why would the majority of Americans find it offensive....what's so bad about the original version?
I couldn't get the commercial to play, my DSL is out so Im posting on the cell phone. All this..oh, oh we have to apologize because someone might be offended is getting old.
Lets call it what it was. They took it out because like so many others in this country, they were afraid they would OFFEND someone or some group. So lets make this clear also. If you are offended by our Pledge of Allegiance, AS IT IS NOW, then get the hell over it. If you are offended by it, oh well get the hell over it. You can plug your ears so you do not have to listen to it. I am sick and tired of hearing,Oh we did not want to offend anyone or group. Hell, I have not problem with it and if it offends you why not enjoy another great freedom this country has, pack up and get the hell out of our country, then you won't have to worry about being offended anymore.
I just spent 5 days with 100's of Veterans that feel the same way I do. Everyday we said the Pledge with UNDER GOD, in it. No problem. Hell I am one of the calm ones. So NBC can take thier sorries bullsh*( and stick it. They are lying about why and how. Screw them. They don't even have the guts to tell the truth.
Who said anyone was offended by "under God" in the pledge? It was noted that some...or most Americans...would be offended if it wasn't there..which is why NBC appologized I assume. What's with all the outrage over something no one said? Sorry if you find it offensive that the phrase was not in the original pledge....but you'll have to take that up with who ever wrote it. Wow...you all sure like to get offended.

No I get tired of people lying about why something happened. This has nothing to do with the orginial Pledge at all. Fot under God to be removed, they had to play it until they got to that point in the tape to erase that portion of it. It has more to do with scared of offending people than it has to do with anything. I just do not have a problem calling it what it is. Then since so many were mad because they did remove it, all of a sudden it was an accident or it was the old version. Here is the BS flag. Offended NO madder than hell because they lied about how it happened yes. And Archer, you even know me better than that.
I don't buy it that they did it om purpose. I finally got it to play on my cell...and they also left out indivisible too ...at least in the choppy play on my cell I didn't hear it. Why wouldn't they have left that in?
My original post was intended to be a little humor at the expense of those who keep saying we need to go back to the simple years of the 50s....or to the way things were when this country was born. I guess. Im the only one who cought the humor.
