All the scallops we used to harvest were near Cedar Key, and Homossasa. Small but sweeter than the giant ones.
I got em from Costco..But I used to harvest them all the time as a youth...We had a john boat full of 5 gallon buckets and we'd walk beside it in waist deep water and feel them with our feet..By the end of the day we had 6, 5 gallon buckets full..Shelling them wasn't fun but I was considered an "expert" at it. I could do it in two quick moves of the blade, and I'd throw the scallop in one bucket and the shell on the ground all in the second move.

did the same. But they are not giants in FL do to the warm waters.
Now you can only have 1 pail full on opening day and you get checked by F&G as only certain areas are open at a time.
