Who do we stiff in a default

15 Jul 2011 11:15 #11 by The Viking
As I stated yesterday, we are paying $67 billion per year into the IMF who just gave Greece $157 billion and now they want more. We are close to where they are so why are we paying in, instead of getting money out from them? That is $670 billion over the same 10 years that Obama is fighting for $3 billion in tax increases. Common sense!

Because the trillions we spend on unnecessary wars could be put to better use "rebuilding" America, instead of middle-East countries.

You do realize that stiffing the military will put approximately 2,858,665 people (active duty military, civilian personnel, and reservists) in the hole money-wise, and will put them on the dole to charities so they could meet their financial obligations and feed their families.

The civilians, because they weren't being paid, would not have to show up or do any work...as a matter of fact, they would be locked out of their work place, which means that the military, who even though they aren't being paid still have to show up on time to their duty place and perform not only the tasks normally assigned to them, but they would have to pick up the civilian worker's work.

This would affect every aspect of what is called the military community...housing, dining facilities, security, transportation, and hospitals & health care, just to name a few. And this only affects active duty personnel and their families.

Furthermore, should civilians within other branches of our Government (Homeland Security would be one) not be paid, then military personnel would be pulled in to work these jobs and fill in where necessary.

While I do agree that some of the procurement, construction, and research and development programs can be and should be stopped or slowed down, completely "hosing" our military personnel of all of their pay, I believe will cause more problems than it will solve.

So whats the difference? We can't afford to pay these guys pensions after just 20 years of service. They are in line behind teachers in my opinion, at least teachers actually paid into thier retirment funds.

Our military wasn't designed to be a cradle to grave jobs program, and if it was, lets put them to work building things we actually need, like infrastructure

So mr I think I know it all but know nothing, what was the military designed for? You have no clue as usual. Those that served 20 plus years, paid for that retirement. More ways than you will ever know or understand or could even fathom. You know nothing. But then you are nothing but an ass anyway. The 20 year retirement was put into place to help maintain a balanced military with both senior and junior personnel. It was to allow the military to function by having those in the senior ranks training those in the junior ranks hoping they would stay and continue the cycle. Without it, it would be a totally different military than we have today, and it sure as hell would not be as capable as it is today.

I guess those union autoworkers that no longer work but get that 30 to 40 thousand a year for doing nothing, that is ok right, all because thier jobs were replaced by machines. So all the oral diaherra coming out of your mouth. but then when your all ass, that is what happens.
