We don't need a military this big...Sorry your so myopic and self centered to realise that. We are throwing all our money away on this giant jobs program called "the military" and we the people get NOTHING in return for it..Lets build this country instead of building things to kill eachother...I know thats a radical idea, but just try to consider it for a moment.

Navy...thanks. I didn't realize how the 20 year retirement came about.

VL...well, the military does way, way more than fight and kill people. They are called on during national disasters and at other times when the U.S. needs someone reliable: Katrina and other hurricanes that hit the U.S. and its territories, the earthquake in Haiti, in the '80's when the Air Traffic Controllers went on strike for an extended period, blizzards, floods, and domestic terrorist attacks...just to name a few.

There is a drawdown going on right now in the Military: The Air Force and Navy both have to get their numbers down...so the military will be smaller when the drawdown is complete.

You may think you are getting "nothing" from our military; however, there are hidden things the military does every single day that you may not realize may affect your life. For you to absolutely unequivocably say the military doesn't give you anything, I think is you being myopic.

Now...that above being said...maybe the military as a whole is too large and should be made smaller. Maybe there is money wasted on weapons systems that we don't need or in some cases don't want. Maybe there could be fewer dollars spent on research and development for military programs. I agree, the Department of Defense absolutely can and should cut its spending...but to stiff the "workers" their due pay is only going to cause more problems.

So stupid sh**. you do nothing more than show your stupidity even more. I knew you were clueless, but I did not think it was this bad.

First off, the military is already in a downsizing mode. Including the Army. Its in progress. DOD has already found around 102 billion in savings that will not be in the budget for 2012. Then there is Congress who will not allow the DOD to cut what they really want to cut for even more savings. Now ass, since all those serving in the military and those that have served are part of the we the people they have a say also. For someone so stupid and just a big ass, those of us that served and are serving do not join up so we can, as your stupidity put it, kill each other, and as CB put it. We do ahellva lot more here in the states also. The military is also not a jobs program. It can provide training for a civilian job though. So ass, since alot of those that did retire, and or served do find other jobs after the military, we do work in the civilian sector. I do. We also pay taxes, SS payments, medicare payments. etc. Someone so clueless and stupid as you running your mouth, about that which you know nothing about.

I'm sure that this diatribe is based on some extensive research that involves facts, a team of economists, and extensive knowledge about the geopolitical conditions around the world... Or maybe it's simply your opinion? Either way crawl back under your rock and consider the reason you can share your opinions openly and freely, freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but people like you make me regret having served to guarantee your right to it.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Wow... Clearly you have no idea what is happening in these theaters of operation not that it should come to me as a surprise. Iraq has oil, Afghanistan not so much. Kuwait's royal family is friendly to western cultures and trade and they have considerable influence in the region.

As for your disregard for service men and women and the injuries they incur; I bet you would change your mind if you spent an afternoon at a VA hospital. Think about that next time you are sentenced to community service... Maybe the DA and the judge will go easy on you.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

As much as I'd like to see Vice Lord take a job in a convenience store on east Colfax where he (?) could experience the thrill of armed robbery and assualt on a daily basis, I doubt he packs the regulation gear to do the work. I suspect he'd rather smoke some dope, cruise the net, and enjoy the freedoms so many others gave their lives for, totally oblivious of the sacrifices of others.
