IBD: If you could sit down with Obama and talk to him about job creation, what would you say?

Marcus: I‘m not sure Obama would understand anything that I’d say, because he’s never really worked a day outside the political or legal area. He doesn’t know how to make a payroll, he doesn’t understand the problems businesses face. I would try to explain that the plight of the businessman is very reactive to Washington. As Washington piles on regulations and mandates, the impact is tremendous. I don‘t think he’s a bad guy. I just think he has no knowledge of this.

I really don't have time to read the article but exactly what are these "regulations and mandates" -Steve Wynn also referred to this is that video in Mayhem's post-that Marcus is speaking of?

If you don't have time to read the article you certainly don't have time to read all the regulation and mandates. Those would fill volumes of encyclopedias. Which is the problem because every business is probably in violation of some law, regulation or mandate because its impossible to be aware of all of them.

This is just another hit and run opinion piece. The link goes to "The Blaze" where tidbits are excerpted from the actual interview and then anti-obama commentary is added in to make it sound more negative than it really is. Conifermtman lied when he implied that the HD guy discussed the actual rules and regulations that impeded the growth of business. Instead it was the typical rant against government regs without discussing a single one that actually does hurt business. The HD guy was trying to drum up support for his anti-government lobbying group.

Typical outrage of the day bs.

As opposed, say, to the "brilliant article, old but still on point" that you contributed yesterday which was chocked full of fact and contained no opinion at all, right?

How is it "news" that some Republican who has swallowed the "taxes destroy jobs!" koolaid would "blast" Obama over it? Seems to me it would only be news if one of them DIDN'T.

Let's see, this man started a company that employs over 320,000 people right now. How many do you employ? Sooooo, who has a better understanding of how Obama's policies hurt employment? Sorry, but I would trust someone who employs hundreds of thousands over someone who is sitting at home posting on a website. That includes myself. I would trust his opinion over mine and ANYONE'S on here enyday. But self righteous people like to act like they know better than one of the largest job creators in our country!

Why would you trust his opinion when it is clear that it is grounded in self-interest? Ask yourself, what does his personal income tax rate have to do with how many people are employed by Home Depot? NOTHING, NADA. Yet he's ranting about personal income taxes as though raising them on him would cause him to lay off half the workers at Home Depot. Sure. He's worried about personal income taxes going up because HE would have to pay more. Not because he's losing sleep at the thought of some $12 an hour employee losing his or her job because of it, because they wouldn't.

It's really, really amazing to me how you guys worship the "opinions" of people that are 1000 times richer than you are, when their interests are simply not your interests. Where do you get this utterly illogical belief that he's somehow looking out for the average guy with this kind of mouthing off? He's looking out for HIMSELF. And it's working! You will dutifully do what he says and not even bother to question whether what he's suggesting will help or hurt people like you and I.

The conservatives here....and elsewhere, are useful tools for their masters....and I gotta hand it to them, they do a good job of putting their corporate bosses needs over the needs of their fellow Americans.

So who do you trust? Obama and congress? Really? SO what have they done to earn your trust and make you believe that they know how to create jobs?
