That brilliant article was solely based on the opinion of the author and presented as an opinion of that author. The blaze article however took excerpts from an interview by another journal and twisted into their commentary. For example, the HD executive no where used the term thuggery which has been seized upon by posters here, nor did any one cite a single regulation as being anti-business, despite what conifermtman implied.
Both articles were opinion pieces, but only the brilliant article that I cited presented itself as an opinion.

Yes but most valid opinions are based on fact. They are informed, verifiable. That is why the article/opinion piece you posted hit their nerves so acutely.

I did notice that not a single conservative rebutted the opinion, just attacked me for posting it.

Yep!

Many now think they are entitled to the income produced by others, rather than what they themselves produced.

Who exactly is the "they" you reference? The red-staters who suck up more of our national largesse than they contribute? Seniors? The poor maybe. Yea they are all rolling in high times, fer sure. Gawd but the stupidity is galling.

Man....you sure have drunk the conservative kool-aid.....without taxes this country will not be better....this country will collapse. Without revenue govenment won't just get smaller, it will cease to exist and so will the US. There is an end game in all this tax cut rhetoric, and I believe we have passed it......America will look like a third world country in a matter of years but I guess that doesn't matter to many of you, as long as you get to keep what you earned, let the country collapse. Only if it does, just how much money do you think you will make?

Greed.....selfishness....that's what you praise so highly jf1.....stiffing the poor, the children, the elderly, those on disability.....just so some wealthy Americans don't have to pony up even as much % taxes as their maid does. Yeah.....that sure is the American way, and you have bought it.

Quite honestly all the " I've got mine, I wanna keep mine, and I don't care if anyone else ever gets a break" mentality makes me sick.

Nope! You have never seen me doing any of the above. Just because you think I am a 'conservative', and you think all conservatives think that way, you paint me with that broad, and inaccurate, brush.

If we could all quit the broad generalizations, and actually discuss something, we might see things differently.

I don't expect it, but I can still dream.

You'd have to be dreaming if you imagine it could happen right after you post one of those broad-brushed "liberals all want to take money from someone else who actually earned it" slurs.

I paid taxes all my life, worked hard, paid into SS and medicare...I don't begrudge a single penny I paid into taxes, I don't cry foul when because we sold an income property I got hit with huge taxes that also affected my regular income.....I knew the rules, I agreed to the rules, and never felt like I was working for someone else, I was working for me and for this country that I love, I was working to make a good life for me and my children and that includes all the benefits that my taxes pay for. Sure, there are lots of things that my tax dollars pay for that don't directly benefit me....but that is what makes this country so great.....

I'm sorry, but crying and whining and bitching about the taxes you pay to live in this country is as unAmerican as it gets. Everyone knew that they would have to pay taxes on their income, and on investments, and pay SS and medicare, and they chose to take that job. You have a choice.....work and pay taxes, or don't work, get welfare and live on the fringes......

I have no sympathy at all for those who, once they start making good money, suddenly cry about the fact they have to pay more taxes.......boo hoo hoo.....go see how much you can make in some other country and how much they let you keep out of your wages.....

When did greed and selfishness become the norm, and responsibility, love of country, and a willingness to help those less fortunate that we are become a bad thing?

I said:

How did you turn that into "liberals all want to take money from someone else who actually earned it" ??

I have also paid taxes, etc. all my life, and haven't b*tched about it.

I have also contributed to charities to help others all my life. I have also volunteered, and continue to do so, to help others. I think that is the way it should be.

I do NOT think it is the business of the federal government to FORCE me, or anyone else, to help others by taking the $$ I have earned and redistribute it to others.
