Palin a grandma again...out-of-wedlock again...

The Palins are no different than most families out there. There are varied degrees of preaching with everything from messing with guns, to messing with girls. There are parents who are very strick and "think" they can keep their kids from the dangers of sex, drugs and booze....and there are those on the other end of the spectrum who are not engaged at all in their kid's lives and thet them roam free at an early age.

I was raised more toward the strict side but of course I did "dabble" in the fun stuff but also knew the wrath that awaited me if I got in trouble. I knew quite a few kids who were free range little bastards because their parents didn't seem to worry about their ability to make adult decisions with a child's brain. I saw first hand what happens when parents have little to no influence on what their kids are doing. I know for a fact I'd have gone south very fast my parents were not up in my grill and at least attempting to steer me straight and not telling me the consequences of my bad choices.

Bottom line is, a good parent has to at least try to be engaged in the lives of their kids and TRY to at least slow them down, otherwise, they perpetuate the cycle of bad parents producing future bad parents. JMO

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Print Smith, I do hear what you are saying. We all preach to our children hoping they won't make either the same mistakes others (or even ourselves) have made. All to often though it falls on deaf ears. To be fair, most of us (even adults) learn our most valuable lessons by the mistakes (or gifts) we've made. To me, it is hard to look at a child, albeit born to someone young, as a mistake. A challenge most likely, but not a mistake. The only thing that bothers me is anyone (right, left, center, or I don't give a damn) trying to act like a know-it-all or superior. We all put our pants on one leg at a time. Thank you for sharing your perspective PS. To me there is a difference of preaching to our children and preaching to others, especially when our children are doing what we preach against. There is also a huge difference between that and taking a negative situation that has happened to you or a loved one and educating others. I'm all for education. A wonderful example of this is  The I Love You Guys Foundation. I'm usually not a fan of ANY politician preaching to me.

I agree with you SG that politicians shouldn't preach to "us" since they hold no superior parenting abilities simply because they were elected to an office.

However, maybe I missed it, but I've never seen Sarah preaching abstinence, only Bristol (I'm sure Sarah probably did so maybe someone could cue up the video or quote?) As for Bristol preaching, I have no problem with that since she has first hand knowledge of the consequences and the worthless father to prove her point.

Point well taken!
