I love the fact that 285Bound lets us talk about it, and work out our disagreements/misunderstandings, rather than just shoving it down our throats!
I can even disagree with the 'powers that be', and not get banned for life!!

wanted to give input. I found Noor to be extremely intelligent,vocal and willing to bring another perspective to things. Her views (from a
Muslim POV (?,I think) are refreshing.JMO,but the populace here on the mountain seems to lack diversity and Noor's contribution (altho sometimes convoluted)brought something else to the table. I have to applaud her for being one of the ONLY females
in the Study (early on). So-o--o, long story,short......Noor was the topic and the confusion about Nics is a bitch. JMO (sorry for the breaks in text)

Here is the summary of the changes we are making.
First, we want to say that we really appreciate all of you asking for clarification about this issue, and providing perspectives/input! We are happy to explain why we do some of what we do, but understand that we can't always go into all of it. We make decisions that have to take into account liability issues, personal information/privacy, private requests, and keeping our members safe, all while staying balanced with free speech. What's important to know is that it can be complicated so it's handled on a case-by-case basis, and does require some subjective judgement calls on our part, which is why we encourage you to discuss things with us privately so we don't have to get the whole site bogged down in non-fun stuff and create confusion. The explanation in the Ring got long because we were trying to give you a taste of how complex it can be, and we don't want you to have to worry too much about this. Self-moderation is an integral part of how this site runs, and it's worked great for us so far! Just know that if there's is a problem, we will work with you to fix it; and if you don't hear from us, then there's no problem!
Regarding copying posts from Pinecam, or any other community forums, please post a link to the thread that contains the post you wish to discuss, then say what you'd like to say about the post in question. It's easiest when you post just a link; however, if you feel you must quote text, please quote 4 lines or less in accordance with Fair Use Doctrine. As far as nics go, please understand that we may need to pull a nic if there's an issue that was reported to us and must be addressed. Understand that we are not making an exception for other area forum members, but apply this rule to any member of our community - this site has been, from day one, about protecting and respecting our community members anonymity and privacy.
Just as an FYI, anytime you have questions or suggestions for us, you can post them in our Letters to the Editors (Us) Forum - we look forward to the feedback!
