This is an excellent example, I think, of the results of the 'delete it and it never happened' philosophy used by the PC moderators. It doesn't really help anything, it just muddies the waters, and leads to confusion.

I MUCH prefer the 285Bound approach of starring out those parts of a post which are considered inappropriate, and leaving the balance. This provides continuity and readability to the thread (although I don't agree with starring out the nic in the quote :wink: ).

I apologize, Cinn, for pushing this issue, but that is exactly the point I wanted to make :wink:

IMO, the only thing wrong with the original quote on 285Bound - <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" 285bound.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?p=140091#p140091 " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?p=140091#p140091<!-- l --> - was the failure to post a link to the source.

I was missing the thread. You have to remember I used to post the wrong letter in the alphabet music thread too. LOL I see it now. So I was incorrect in my earlier post when I said that there is a post on here that is not on PC however if the post were to be pulled that would be a huge issue. I know that SC is considering all options and she will make a decision on policy. As we all know she is very thorough.

You and SC (and even jmc :wink: ) do a great job here, but as you know, I won't pass up an opportunity to hassle anyone! :biggrin:

That explains why I didn't last long at PC :wink:

Ahh, that thread brought back good memories! Thanks NTM!

LOL....It was one of their longest threads and most of those folks are now members here. Funny how life works.

And the one who said he'd never post here spreads his manure here all the time now. Heh. The irony.

Thanks everyone for your input - it is MOST appreciated! We're doing some more research on Fair Use Doctrine/privacy policies in regards to web-based businesses (believe it or not, but this issue is heating up considerably legally) and how it would apply to us, considering logistics of administration, etc so please bear with us as we make sure we've got as much info as possible, and solicit some advice from some business owner friends of ours, to make the best informed decision that we all can agree upon. Thank you!!! I promise we will discuss this further, and soon, once we have a better handle on all the info out there and can more clearly spell out a policy that everyone can agree is best for users and staff alike. My gratitude to you for your time and patience!

Thank you SC for being open-minded enough to discuss this subject and perhaps, or perhaps not, change your policy. There are excellent points on both sides and I guess it just comes down to legal exposure in the end. The difference here is that you are willing to educate yourself and perhaps tweak your policy when an issue has been pointed out that could possibly be changed. In the end, it might just have to stay the same, but the big picture is that your willing to ask our opinions and consider it. Man, what a refreshing difference that is. Keep up the good work! :thumbsup:

SC, keep your site legal even if some whine about it. <Becky> :biggrin: There are a lot of people out there who will jump on any illegality and trump up a lawsuit just to cause problems for you or get some sort of revenge.
