Now there is a post on the 285bound.com site that, for whatever reason, is not on the other site.

Unless I am mistaken, this is the thread/post which started this discussion, and it is still on PC.

The post is gone though.

I can't see it. I see a post that said the thread was taken down?

I see some good points made earlier in this thread to maintain the current policy on nicknames/real names, and some on the countering viewpoint of modifying this rule. I defer to you, SC, on how best to proceed since you have the biggest stake in the success of this site.

My main concern is that whatever rules we have be applied consistently across the membership. Thus far I haven't seen any problems in this area. :thumbsup:

The quoted post is on PC now. The rest of the thread that I understand used to be there is not. I didn't see the thread before, so I have no clue what might have been there at one time.

This is an excellent example, I think, of the results of the 'delete it and it never happened' philosophy used by the PC moderators. It doesn't really help anything, it just muddies the waters, and leads to confusion.

I MUCH prefer the 285Bound approach of starring out those parts of a post which are considered inappropriate, and leaving the balance. This provides continuity and readability to the thread (although I don't agree with starring out the nic in the quote :wink: ).

I apologize, Cinn, for pushing this issue, but that is exactly the point I wanted to make :wink:

IMO, the only thing wrong with the original quote on 285Bound - <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" 285bound.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?p=140091#p140091 " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?p=140091#p140091<!-- l --> - was the failure to post a link to the source.

I prefer to have the nic so I don't have to go to the link for PC to check it out. Rather not give them the business.

The PC mods do some hilarious, not necessarily good for business, stuff that can't help but have me laughing for the rest of the day. Good example of how not to run a business.
