His speech confirmed his problem. Taking shots at the republicans just confirmed to everyone that they are not serious about fixing the problem or going to play ball. His ego is unbelievable. Say what you want but until he stops acting like a egotisitical nut job he is not going to get anything done at all!!!!!! Sorry done with my mini rant. He needs to stop whining about not having it easy with a yes crowd ( a lib congress) and do what it takes. What an idiot. You guys all think this is the republicans he needs to make some deals. He is getting pushed around and that is HIS fault for being a weenie.

Yep- I totally agree- his arrogance is astounding.

nobody that matters wrote: So, you're saying that if the republicans had just said "Ok, whatever" and signed on for no spending cuts, increased taxes, and a larger debt limit increase, the market would have been all rosy and happy?

Nope, didn't say that did I? Where have I EVER said there shouldn't be spending cuts?.....where have the democrats said there shouldn't be spending cuts in whatever plan was going to come out of the negotiations? You can make up all the straw man arguments you want, that won't make them true. If you have to lie about what I have posted to make your point then you really don't have a point to make.

What was proposed by Democrats AND Republicans in the gang of 6 negotiations and the Boehner/Obama negotiations was a $4 trillion deal that cut spending and raised a modest amount of revenue.......who dug in their heels and said no raise in revenue EVER? the Tea Party.....who turned Boehner down on his deal? the Tea Party, who kept us from the $4 trillion deal that included revenue increases, EXACTLY what the S&P was looking for? the Tea Party.

No, this would not have made the market all rosy....but it would have mitigated the damage, and not made us look like fools to the world. It would have shown the S&P and our own country that we are adults and can work together......instead we have a few people that thought their ideas were more important than anyone else's, that they could hold this nation and the world hostage till they got their own way and the United States came off looking disfunctional. And until the Tea Party members come to the table and work not only with Democrats but with their own party, we will continue to look and act like fools. It's like the US is the parent and the Tea Party members are the screaming and kicking terrible two year old that the parent refuses to discipline.

:rofl

Funny, you can't see the arrogance in each and every tea party member....but you sure point it out in the president every chance you get.....he's the President, a certain arrogance goes with the job......and THAT is what ticks you off....the fact that he has that job and all the rights and privileges and respect that goes with it.

Archer, the problem is people and republicans are going to do what they are going to do. His job is to stop whining and make some deals. Being pres is like being a manager and he couldn't manage a pizza shop..

Maybe you should ask Bush that. And while you're at it, why don't you ask the Tea Party where THEY were as Bush was spending like a drunken soldier?

Obama didn't make deals? He was all about compromise on this recent legislation.

My head is spinning today. I've heard several conservatives recently say that Obama is spineless and a weak leader. Now I'm hearing that he should cut deals. Which is it?

AV, most were conservative Republicans (saying and thinking WTF), Libertarians and a few blue dog Democrats. The economy was still pretty solid, so it was useless spending as usual.

The silent majority will be silent no more.

I have never claimed that democrats are not complicit in how we got to this point......how we get out of it should not be turned over to a few members of one party just because they whine and cry and carry on the loudest. And it wasn't just the tea party, non-tea party Republicans have been calling for debt reduction (and so have many democrats, but we'll ignore that for now).....The bulk of the Republicans thought the plan put forth by Boehner was a good one, and it would have passed both houses and done far more for reducing the deficit than the current plan......except for the Tea Party......they screwed their own party.
