Can you point out a specific example of what you think was him "caring more about his too" in the deficit situation?

Specifically he gives a speech to try and calm the country and the world, and he says 'the republicans won't do it so I can't get it done.

Deal with the root issues. Until they deal with and restructure the debt we are screwed and all of our safety nets are almost gone. It sounds to me that he has people telling him that he has to work with them and his ego won't let him then he couldn't blame them next year in the election. If he was serious he would not have even touched that subject. He should have said. I want all rep to call me and I will work with any of you personally.

How can he (work with anyone) when he stomps out of a meeting room like a 5 year old.

You want to know why he is weak. All the liberals on this board beleive the tea party and the rep. are stronger than he is. There is your sign.

I agree there. But I think the "root issue" is that our political process has gotten so extreme and distorted by entrenched partisan nuttiness that we CAN'T deal with the debt or any other large problem. It has to stop. The President was right to say so. Not that I expect any of the people he was referring to to do so. But maybe the voters will hear it and think twice about foolish voting to "send a message" and instead look for thoughtful candidates who can do more than walk around with their chests puffed out mouthing ideology.

One howling kid in a restaurant can ruin it for everyone. Does that make the two year old "stronger" than everyone else in the room? No, just louder.

Finally, someone else that sees Obama as a howling kid.
