If it was a suggestion to use a cheaper brand of toilet paper in the Senate bathrooms to save money, the Republicans would oppose it....and call him a socialist for suggesting it.
I think I also heard Obama say the average working family would get a $1500 tax credit (2010 or 2011?) and payroll taxes (SS and Medicare) would be cut in half for one year (about a 3.3% cut if true).
LOL ... Yeah, that's what I had in mind... They'll have to divert some of the shipments to the RNC to meet the demand, though...
Hey, I wouldn't turn down a tax-cut... I also wouldn't have too much heartburn if they had to raise taxes some to make the numbers work and get SS and Medicare out of the hole... But then, I'm not a sociopath.
I'm not really certain at this point that Obama did call for cuts to SS and Medicare, or call for tax increases. But he discussed both so I'm assuming that's what's in his proposal when we see it (otherwise, why bring it up?). Right now, I don't see the specifics we need so I'm just doing my best to guess.
Something I don't understand. We've been hearing for days about this speech, the scheduling drama, et. al. Why are specifics not available, and we're to trust that they'll be coming soon? Obama prepared his speech, says he has a plan, but can't tell us how it will be paid for?
Obama did not venture an estimate as to how many jobs his plan would create. He promised repeatedly that his plan would be paid for, but never said how, pledging to release those details soon.

That's okay... The Republicans have been telling us since January, 2010, that they were going "to create jobs"...and I'm still waiting for specifics.... :Whistle
