Just curious about that point. How does army imply US Army? It does not imply that to me. There are lots of armies in the world. Probably as many armies as there are countries.

I was not aware that US troops were on the ground in Libya. Do you have a link that shows when they were deployed?

I took it to mean US Army, since it did not specify "Libyan Army." It was an assumption on my part that was apparently not true.

There's a difference between U.S. troops and U.S. combat troops, but I'm sure the other side knows this.

There are a couple dozen U.S. troops on the ground in Libya, in preparation for re-opening the U.S. Embassy.

Originally four U.S. troops were sent to Libya on the same mission.

There are U.S. troops protecting American Embassies in many countries we don't have combat troops.

The first 419 Missiles of the first 421 fired were fired by American Planes and ships. Why not Iran during their protests? What was so important about Libya? Or was it convenient during the same week that he released his ( real or phony ) Birth certificate, and got Osama Bin Laden, and drew attention away from the Birth Certificate. How come the Left who are so Anti-War, defends his going into Libya, but can't stop complaining about Bush in Iraq and Afghanistan? Oh, Afghanistan is now Obama's war, isn't it?

I worry getting involved in Syria will be a bad idea too. Right now the minority Alawi Sunni sect controls the country, do you prefer the Muslim Brotherhood? Or if we help the dissidents, will Iran extend their power in Damascus keeping the royal family in power? Maybe the new rulers of Egypt would ally with the new rulers of Syria to attack Israel?

Agreed. There are lots of levels of our relations with foreign powers -- both the ones mentioned and their allies -- that complicate any envisioned military action.

It's not as simple as "why not go into this country instead of this country."

Yes, I assumed US Army as well because when you just say "army", that's what I'd normally assume (and it seemed others were confused about it as well early in this thread). How am I supposed to assume Libyan Army and why wasn't the Fox story specific while the ABC story was? Plus as I mentioned, the Fox story failed to point out that this involved several Libyan warehouses and it's been going on for at least the last 6 months. Let's face it, the Fox News story was a poor "Reader's Digest" version of the ABC News article which they referenced.

And so far as Obama's birth certificate being authentic or not, I think it's fair to assume anyone that believes it isn't authentic can be grouped with the people who think the US never landed on the Moon, or those that believe the US government was involved with 9/11. All such conspiracies would require hundreds or thousands to keep silent. How is that possible, especially in this internet age? Show the evidence, or shut up and stop embarrassing yourself. Especially after all the easily provable fake "evidence" that's already been posted here. It's really sad to watch.

Covert actions by the DoD are generally not published in the press, that's kind of bad for the life expectancy of the TROOPS ON THE GROUND in the country in question. I guess you couldn't be bothered to view the clips I posted earlier in this thread that addressed the fact that there are US personnel on the ground in Libya and they have been there since the beginning of the undeclared war.

If you are OK with being lied to by the current CIC then you and me have very different views of right and wrong.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Memo to Otis: YouTube videos are not the same as facts and may even be faked or edited in order to make something look like something it isn't. As an example: Look at the Obama "I was born in Kenya video."

I don't get my news from videos, especially Bill O'Reilly. I find that printed news is much more reliable, it's easier to scan, read and digest than the emotional half truths that O'Reilly has been known to spread.

Let me know when you have some real information about combat troops on the ground in Libya.
