I can't prove it, but I bet we've been lied to by EVERY American president about one thing or another.

Don't piss in my boot and tell me it's raining; telling the world that no US personnel will be on the ground in Libya in support of either side during the conflict is very different from a generality like "the United States will deploy forces as needed to ensure the stability of the region." Denying that US troops were deployed in Libya on the ground is very difficult to defend, when the President of the United States says it to the world it is unforgivable.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

Um, because it was in Libya? As I said just curious. I suspect there is a profound truth in how our different backgrounds lead us to different assumptions, based on the same statement. Just don't ask me what that is. I am a quart low on profound truths.

After additional thought and beer I have come to the conclusion that you were born in the USA and spent most of your life here and have a UScentric view of the world. I may be torturing ethnocentric a bit here but it is late.

So your only proof that there are US combat troops on the ground in Libya is someone has to point the flashy thing at the target for the laser-guided bombs? Because only Americans are capable of doing that?

Are you aware of any American combat casualties on the ground in Libya? Any source that says we have combat troops on the ground?

Couldn't covert/black ops (CIA or others hired by US) be trained to do this? I am not trying to split hairs but this same type of precision bombing is used all over the place (Yemen, Pakistan, etc). No doubt we have people in every country doing all sort of recon, intel and such, are they considered military? Maybe or maybe not, but it is not in the best interest of those folks for the President to identify if they are in that country or not. Is that really lying or is it withholding the facts to protect those involved.

I bet we have a few people in Iran right now (combat military or not), but if you would ask the President, you would hope he would lie and say no to protect them, right?

Not according to our resident precision bomb expert:

otisptoadwater wrote: I might know just a little bit more than you when it comes to how precision bombing is accomplished? NEWS FLASH - you need people on the ground who are danger close to the target to use a laser designator to lase the target. Not everyone on the planet has the comm gear, training, and brass balls it takes to do that job. There is no precision bombing in Libya without US forward air controllers on the ground doing that job, therefore Barry lied to the world when he stated there would be no US personnel on the ground in Libya.

Fake or altered YouTube videos and all the other deflection be damned, we were lied to by the current President of the United States. Why anyone is OK with that escapes me.
