It's not uncommon to see AP reporters with camera in hand at Target, just in case someone "big" happens to pop in for a shopping spree. Gotta cover every possibility right? Sorry wayne, I just can't buy it today.
Maybe not in our neck of the woods, but that neck of the woods could have a lot of photo opportunities. Were I a photographer living and shopping in the D.C. area, I would never let my camera leave my side.
Great for our First Lady that she shops Target. Great for her that she was able to get what she needed/wanted and not be spotted until she was checking out and done. Great that she didn't go ballistic on the photographer...I would have not-so-gently asked him or her to leave me alone in peace.
Had it have been a photo op, the photog would have managed to get more than just two shots as she was leaving. He would have gotten her in the aisles, shopping -- like that photo of Palin at the grocery store.

I think she and the president have also done well to give their children as normal a life as is possible in the White House.
lol rofllol
Taking the kids out of school to jet around the world, while a good educational opportunity aren't giving the kids a normal life.
But it must be quite interesting to grow up in the White House. I am surprised Chelsea Clinton never wrote a book about it.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I learned a lot from international trips as a child. I would hope any parent conservative or liberal would allow their children to benefit from their unique opportunities.
As far as the Target thing, I'm sure the first lady's staff made sure someone would see this.
Did you know the Pres. flew BO, the dog, in on a separate smaller jet to Maine for their vacation? There were others on board the plane but why? Wonder if that sets well with all the unemployed, hurting, US citizens who can't afford food, but we can pay for this. The above is true. I Google "Bo the dog flying to Maine " and got 76,700 references verifying this. One of them follows:
Michelle Malkin: Just Plane Crazy: Obama's Dog Flies to Vacation on Separate Jet
Doug Powers: The Obama's arrived at their vacation spot in Maine , and the local paper, the Morning Sentinel, described the scene:
The president was the first to walk onto the tarmac, dressed casually in a pale blue Oxford shirt and khakis. A few minutes later, the first lady, dressed in black caprice, a tank-top and sandals, walked onto the runway. Shortly afterward, Malia and Sasha joined their parents. Baldacci and his wife, Karen, presented the family with gift bags full of Maine-made goodies, including baskets made by the Passamaquoddy Tribe, popcorn from Little Lad’s Bakery in East Corinth, iconic L.L. Bean bags, University of Maine ice hockey hats, and an assortment of other Maine foods and books.
Karen Baldacci said the bags for Malia and Sasha contained one loon toy and one chickadee toy that sound their natural calls. Arriving in a small jet before the Obama's was the first dog, Bo, a Portuguese water dog given as a present by the late U.S Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass.; and the presidents€™s personal aide Reggie Love, who chatted with Baldacci.
The president who said the rest of us are going to have to sacrifice to get out of these hard economic times let his dog fly on a serparte plane? Not enough room on Air Force One (a Gulfstream on this trip) for a Portuguese water dog and Reggie Love? And why not board him if you don't have room for him.
Mr. Love, Bo's handler, is paid $102,000.00 a year to take care of him.
I know kinda silly but what have we come to expect from the stupid media.
Morning Sentinel, July 17: Clarification:Today’s story about the arrival of the Obamas said the Obama’s dog and one aide arrived on a small jet before the First Family, but there were other occupants on the plane, including several other staffers. The presidential party took two small jets to the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton because the airport was too small to accommodate the president’s usual jet.
Reggie Love, the president’s personal aide, wasn’t hired to be "Bo’s handler," as the chain e-mail claims. As an ABC News profile said, Love’s position makes him "Obama’s ‘body man,’ a title given to the personal aide of every president and presidential candidate." His duties include "keeping the … president on schedule" and "anticipating his needs." That might even include occasionally taking care of Bo.
I believe one of my daughter's most enriching life experiences was spending a gap year abroad. She certainly came back a changed person.
As for the Target thing, Michelle clearly seemed peeved the photographer was there. If it were a photo op, she wouldn't have tried to go incognito and would probably would have tried to chat up other shoppers.

The President's dog, Bo, and his handler did travel to Maine on a second aircraft when the First Family travelled there in July 2010 for their Summer vacation, but Bo and handler were not alone. This eRumor surfaced a year later, in 2011, while the President and his family vacationing in Martha's Vineyard, 367 miles south of the airport where they landed a year earlier.
The Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton, Maine is a small airport and can not accommodate large aircraft such as the Boeing 747 that the President uses for Air Force One. For this reason two aircraft were needed for the entire entourage who accompanied the First Family.
Local reporters from the Morning Sentinel of Central Maine were on hand to cover the Obama's arrival at the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport but somehow not all the facts made it in it's first edition of the local paper. The original story reported that the first family arrived at the airport in a plane shortly after Bo and his handler were seen exiting another aircraft and left the impression that the dog and handler traveled alone on their own plane.
