Conservation Voice wrote: Stephanie Mencimer offers some interesting details about Cain’s cancer treatment. While he discusses his cancer at length in his book, there’s no mention of an insurance company, and though he’s 65, Cain refuses to disclose whether he’s on Medicare:

Instead, in his book, he lays out all the ways his privileged status impacted his care. For instance, when Cain was first diagnosed with cancer of the colon and liver and a 30 percent chance of survival, he was told that he should go to a specialized cancer center rather than a hospital, namely the M.D. Anderson cancer center in Houston. Not everyone who wants to go to such a top-flight facility gets to go there, however. Plenty of people with private insurance have died waiting for an insurance company functionary to approve such treatment. It can take weeks to get into Anderson, and it requires traveling at short notice, which can only add to the costs. So Cain called his friend T. Boone Pickens, the oil magnate, who used to be on the board of the center and was a big donor to the cancer center. Pickens made a call and Cain was in…

After Cain had his surgery in Houston to resection his colon and remove most of his liver, he spent a couple of weeks in the hospital recuperating. He was able to go home a week early because, although he was still weak, one of the companies on whose board he sits dispatched its private plane to fly him back to Atlanta so “we did not have to endure the stress of commercial travel.” (Cain notes that he doesn’t ID the company because “some jackass might want to make an issue out of it.”)

Digging too the bottom of the bucket now....is this really what we have to do to each candidate that wants to serve the country? No wonder it's so hard to find good people to run for office, they have to endure this kind of bullsh**. Next someone will move in next door like they did to Palin and dig through his trash.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

What these yo-yos don't understand is that it wouldn't BE just "9% instead of what they're paying now"....It would be 9% on EVERYTHING...ON TOP of what you pay in State taxes, County taxes and Local taxes. You live in a state where the state sales tax is 8%, you'll now be paying 17%. The states decides to carve out an exception for autos, hospital care, medical services, child support...Tough... You go to the hospital for a surgery that costs $100,000? Be prepared to pay an extra $9,000 ... You have a heart attack and owe the ambulance company $2000 for the trip?...Be prepared to pay an additional $180. No more mortgage deduction; no more deductions for charitable contributions.

Oh, and by the way, the 9% is also ON TOP OF the Federal Taxes you pay to the IRS. There's nothing in his plan that repeals the 16th Amendment. The only way you are going to do away with your Federal obligation is to repeal the 16th Amendment. Sorry, I didn't see that anywhere in his plan. You think your taxes are high now?

You do not have to repeal to change the tax tables to zero.

Show me where in the 9-9-9 plan it says that the tax tables will be set to zero.... Source please?

You ready to pay 9% on top of your next house purchase? Auto purchase? Hospital bill? I'd love to see you say you'd be okay with that...

And, what's to keep the tax tables from being re-set to 10% after the fact?
