Never did one...I was a "certified pilot" and I have well over 5500 hours-Youre full of sh**..I've had 100 check rides, but none with the CAP and no "orientation flights"
Orientaion flight? Where'd you get that? I'm a certfied double I flight instructor, type rated in the 727, 737 and I don't know what the hell your talkin about..
Well O rides are very common thing is Civil Air Patrol. But not all pilots in CAP can fly an O flight. So you are clueless about CAP. For a pilot to fly with a cadet they have to be certified by CAP There are different levels of CAP certification for Pilots. I know this as I was in CAP. CAP Certification has nothing to do with what you are certified in. That is only the beginning.

You do, however, have to have a strong stomach when you go out to work at a plane crash. I had kids in CAP when I was doing my student teaching in western NC in the mountains. Every year someone would crash in those rugged mountains and the kids would be out there trying to locate the crash. They never said they were veterans, nor did my brother, who is a two-time Vietnam Vet with 100% disability.

Listen, I don't know how they ran other CAP wings..I was in a group of about 5 to 7 and we all flew..Whats the point if you don't..? There were no wannabes in my wing..All we did was meet once a week and fly a couple times a month or when we were needed. We had fly-in breakfests, and little field trips to the nearest AFB, or my dad when take us to the airport and we'd sit in the captain seat of a 747 or something..It was fun, but when somebody was lost in Lake Michigan, or when we had to find a small plane crash..It was all business. We served and we served well. I deserve a free meal
