GOP Aide Guilty Of Conspiring To Suppress Black Voter Turnout

BALTIMORE — A political aide to former Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich was convicted Tuesday of conspiring to use Election Day robocalls in an effort to suppress black voter turnout during the 2010 gubernatorial election.

These kinds of activities aren't new, but have become more problematic recently, said State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt. He hoped the verdict would send a message that it is more than just "dirty tricks" and the law will be enforced, he said.

"The First Amendment does not protect fraudulent speech," he said. "We think clearly that this was the case here. It was fraudulent. It wasn't just political speech. It was fraudulent speech." Paul Schurick was found guilty of all four counts he faced, including conspiracy to influence or attempt to influence a voter's decision whether to go to the polls through the use of fraud and conspiracy to publish campaign material without an authority line. A stoic Schurick comforted his wife in the courtroom after the Baltimore jury's verdict was read, but declined to comment.

In addition to the conspiracy charges, Schurick was also charged with attempting to influence a voter's decision on whether to go to the polls through the use of fraud and failing to provide an authority line on distributed campaign material and two counts of conspiracy to violate state election laws. The authority line violations carry a maximum of a year in prison if convicted. The other charges carry up to five years in prison for each count.

Ooopsie... I guess "dirty tricks" suddenly became illegal... Put a few of these slime away, and maybe they'll crack the code.

They're reminding the Hitler Youth in Wisconsin that destroying and "losing" recall petitions carries a $10,000 fine and jail-time too...

Oh, how cute... The O'Keefe/Breitbart videos which the Colorado Attorney General ruled were phony because of the dishonest editing...

I do love it when you have nothing more than fake videos and lies in answer to a court conviction... Who knew?

Gotta love "its" explanation as being "phony".

Gotta love the idiot that admits she was committing voter registration crime as well.

Here's a real phony... and no voter fraud... no voters involved... just sell the political positions...

Blagojevich was convicted earlier this year on 18 corruption counts, including trying to auction off President Barack Obama's old U.S. Senate seat.

Prosecutors will ask Zagel to imprison the twice-elected governor for 15 to 20 years, arguing he has not only shirked all responsibility for his crimes but repeatedly thumbed his nose at the U.S. justice system.

Gotta love the conservatives who, when faced with their side doing something illegal, can only whine "you did it too". We get it for fraud, we get it for adultry, we get it for sexual harassment....you are soooo predictable.

Archer comes to the rescue of Lady Jazzer again. Boy oh boy... you complaining about Tu Quoque arguments? Lady Jazzer is the Queen of Tu Quoque arguements. And you get pissy when someone comes along and does it back to your side. Oh... I'm playing the littlest tambourine for you... ding... ding... dong.
