Why Can’t Porn Stars Teach Children?

02 Jan 2012 20:38 #71 by Arlen
You are not being serious are you? Jesus did not forgive the protitute. Go back and reread the Bible.
Also, forgiveness is given to those who repent. You may be ready to forgive someone long before, if ever, they ask for forgiveness.

And teachers should be virtuous if they are going to be in charge of our children.

Luke 7:36-50.

36 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. 37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, 38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”

40 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”

So he said, “Teacher, say it.”

41 “There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”

43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.”

And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” 44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. 45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

For me, it's similar to that incident of one of the Baptist groups (national). The head of the group embezzelled funds, among other things. The group forgave him and kept him in the same position. He did it again.

You can forgive, if that's what you're talking about with a porn star, but that doesn't mean they can now do whatever they please, especially when it comes to children. I don't want to take the chance with the kids and this individual.

Dang... There you go again using actual facts to make people without facts look stupid... I love it when someone says "go read the Bible", and can't produce anything themselves...While those who DO apparently know the Bible use it to shove their words down their throats....

Well done... :like:

Were I to guess, I'd say Arlen was referring to the John chapter 8 woman, rather than the woman in Luke.
(there's also the woman in John 4 - who was a --- gasp - Samaritan). Man, the Luke episode is inconvenient, isn't it?

Getting to the question, in my limited understanding of scripture, "Teachers" are supposed to be held to what we'd call a "higher standard."
Whether the Bible intended "teachers" to include what we now call "teachers" (glorified baby sitters) --- I suppose that question is debatable.

Having served awhile on Christian school boards, I know there's some really silly standards applied by Christians to teachers (my favorite is the prohibition on multiple earrings for women --- or any earrings for men
my colleagues would not be happy to learn that my pastor today has a nose ring) . That said, I'd have a really hard time stomaching a porn star teacher. Granted - if my colleagues and I had super virtuous households, there likely would be no way of knowing about his/her extra-curricular activities.

This brings me back to Jesus' own example (John 8). We see a bunch of religious zealots want to stone a woman who apparently lacks virtue --- and Jesus says something that to me, seems to say, "so --- tell me --- how exactly do you know, anyway????" (let he who is without sin, throw the first stone). He finishes by telling the woman "go and sin no more." In this particular episode - the point of forgiveness is freedom (to live without sin).

In the Christian world-view - I suppose the appropriate action is reprimand (forgiveness) followed by termination in the event of a repeat performance. (that's what I'd do in a Christian school).

Well, there's the actual "Christian world view"... And then there's the faux moralistic crap spewed by the sociopaths on this forum that call themselves "christians" only when they feel like it, but wouldn't know how to actualize it if their lives depended on it.

Nothing in those passages above talk about a prostitute? You're making stuff up again. Where do those passages mention a prostitute?

There are many people out there who participate in all sorts of eccentric activities (S&M, odd political groups, or strange spiritual organizations) who, because they did not get compensation for these activities nor were they filmed, go unquestioned. How many other teachers dress up in leather with a ball gag and bend over a wooden horse waiting to get whipped at their favorite fetish club every weekend? Do you care? Because I bet there are more than you think.

Anyone know where this club is at?

The bible talks about porn stars and prostitutes? Wont that make kids ask the same questions you are worried about them asking after they meet a porn star?

I don't know about porn stars - but there's plenty of examples of prostitutes and a few other so-called "sexual sins." Read really close, and you'll see that there's some really questionable characters in the family tree of Jesus Christ, himself.

But hey - that's just Bible talk --- what would I know about Christian morality?
