My response to murder being legalized was in reference to the quip that before abortion poor women were getting abortions.homeagain wrote: Yes, we cross-posted against each other Arlen. It is my pov that your perception is LIMITED in it's intent. I believe you would be
surprised at the diversity of women who have elected to end an pregnancy and may I suggest to you that SURGICAL abortion is NOT
the only option available.(herbal solutions are another option.) We are within the same age group and speaking as a female,I believe
your take is somewhat antiquated.

Conversely, I find it ironic and more than a little hypocritical for so many to be so "pro-life" when it comes to the issue of abortion, but so "anti-life" when it comes to the death penalty. There are documented cases where innocent men and women have been put to death for crimes they did not commit - the "final solution" so to speak. Even one of these instances is too many, in my opinion. Also, studies have shown it costs less to prosecute and incarcerate criminals for life without the possibility of parole than it does to prosecute and carry out the death penalty. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why so many conservatives are so "pro-life" but so ardently and passionately "pro-death" all in the same breath. I believe there are viable alternatives to abortion, but I believe there are viable alternatives to the death penalty, as well. Clueless? Perhaps. But that's my position and I'm stickin' to it.

Liberals sympathize with the perpetrators of murder, not the victims. They support the murderous mothers and also the murderers sentenced to death by the legal system. They are not concerned with the innocent babies nor the victims of those on death row.zhawke wrote:

There is no irony here. It is simple logic whenever considering the morality of liberals who feel sorry for the murderous perpetrators. Conservatives, however, sympathize with the innocent victims in both cases.

You are merely rationalizing the "moral" baseline of liberals.zhawke wrote: Really? "Liberals sympathize with the perpetrators of murder, not the victims"? You can't be serious! Or are you? The irony (yes, there is irony here) and hypocrisy (and, yes, there is hypocrisy here) that you base your posit on baffles me. The irony and hypocrisy, is that many conservatives are willing to "overlook" (wink, wink) the possibility in death penalty cases that the "perp" might just be innocent of the charges they are accused of. Once they are put to death, there's no bringing them back -- "oops, sorry bout that" just doesn't cut it. It doesn't matter whether I, or anyone else for that matter, sympathize with anyone. The simple fact is the taking of another person's life, no matter what the circumstances, is murder, period.
If even one of those babies that you so badly want to save from abortion grows up to become a serial killer, will you protect their "right to life" at that time? In my opinion, way too many conservatives are willing to go to the mat to protect life within a woman's womb, no matter who the woman might be, but they are also far too willing to condemn to death anyone they see as being "convicted in a court of law" even if evidence surfaces later that exonerates them. I, personally, have NO sympathy for those who commit heinous crimes, but I do not wish to have anyone's blood on MY hands and on my conscience, no matter what the crime they may have committed. A life sentence, to me, is much more preferable than the death penalty. That's my position, and I'm stickin' to it!
