PMs from undesirables

No, I don't. I think 'Private' is a misnomer that should be changed to 'personal'.

There are existing rules to prevent people from posting personal information. Those should be kept in mind, but if someone sends a PM that's basically a rude bash, the receiver should have every right to post it and show the forum how the sender chooses to express themselves.

Of course, and personally idenifiable information should be removed.

I've only sent and received a few PMs on all the boards I frequent. When I do send them it's because it's a personal conversation - in some cases it's about the fact that I know someone from another board, or from real-life. In some cases it's a question that I doubt the rest of the board would be interested in.

I've never sent an "I hate you you're a screaming gibbering snotbubble not worthy of the air you breathe" type of message.

I post those so everyone can enjoy the benefit of my superior personality assesment skills.

I have a couple times here got PM's meant for someone else. Guess they aren't very private if they go to the wrong person.

If someone sent me a threatening letter, I would have every right to share that even if it was meant just for me...no difference here.

So lets say someone was harrassing me via PM. I decide to post that in an open forum...what would happen to me and what would happen to the harrasser?

There are a few people here that have a great sense of humor and are quick witted. You and Martin are two that come to my mind. Very funny!!!!!!

Another question......
Does this board control all pm's such as those sent on another forum?
Where is the line drawn?

If someone is harassing you via PM, you can contact us about it, as we want all of our members to enjoy their posting experience here on 285Bound. We do not get involved in our members' issues, preferring to let you handle it yourselves, unless we are asked. If you are concerned that a threat is serious, then we urge you to contact the sheriff's department and share the information with them as it is more appropriate to give them that information.

We've posted our policy on personal information here , as for posting PM's publicly, it has always been our policy that PM's are also personal information as are discussions of PMs, and we pull them if we see it or if it is reported to us, as is described in our policy statement here .

Everything is handled on a case-by-case basis, we are here to help you; if you have any questions you are always free to contact us and we'll be glad to help you.

This question is a little confusing, but we'll try to answer. First, we do not "control" PM's in any manner, this system is set up for our members convenience and to use privately.

In regards to PMs from other sites, whether other privately-owned, independent Bound affiliates or unaffiliated websites, no, we have not have "control" over them either. However, PM's or emails, no matter the source, are still considered personal information. This policy was adopted by 285Bound at the recommendation of Communities Bound at its inception, but each site can be different as it is up to each owner. Please contact them for more information about their policies.

Yes, as stated in the post above, no matter the source, PMs would be pulled as they fall in our personal information category.
