Obama could do something to reduce gasoline prices, establish one national gasoline variant for the US. Currently the gas companies make regional blends which prevent areas with high gasoline supplies from shipping it to areas with shortages. I heard one estimate that prices would drop a dollar per gallon. This mandate put up by enviromentalists & well meaning legislators has made refineries a lot of money.
Or he could decide with Europe's help to back off on sanctions against Iran and Syria. And tell Israel that it must stand down in the current sabre rattling. (Politically this would be hard to do.)
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
So, all of those "regional variants" are a result of different state's policies. So you want Obama to override the states and inject the federal government (oh sorry, the "general government") into that?

You can't make this stuff up.
 Typical, not even the Left expects anything from Obama.

Actually the EPA does indirectly mandate all these different gasoline blends. They force each metro area to meet an air standard, and one of the ways the states do it is with gasoline blends.
Standards are not a bad idea, and don't always have to be set by the Government.
There is the UL for product electrical safety, and the SAE for car specs and motor oil grades. Neither is a gov't agency. There is also the IEEE for utilities. Standards make alot of sense when done by neutral non-government experts.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

"Sixteen months ago, General Electric announced it would place the "largest order in history" for electric cars, to be used by its employees who are issued company cars."
What they like even more is vehicles that get 55+mpg... Then you would only have to fill your tank every other week (in most cases)... Wow... What a socialist (read: anti-capitalist) thing to force upon the American people! Lower gas costs coming out of their budgets! That scoundrel !!!
But, hey, Newt says if he's elected president he'll bring the price-at-the-pump down to $2.50/gal... I don't know how he expects to force the energy companies and market forces to do that... By the sheer force of his flatulence?
