Arianna Huffington: President's bin Laden ad "despicable"

The mission was accomplished for that carrier group. They were going home for awhile.

Back on topic, sort of. Remember when Biden called Obama's decision to put Osama down like a dog was one of the toughest decisions ever made, I still have to disagree. How about Truman making the decision to drop nuclear weapons on two Japanese cities full of innocents? Or Ike going ahead with D-Day? Taking out Osama was a no-brainer.

THAT mission was accomplished. A mission is not a war....and I doubt the sign was Bush's idea anyway. He also didn't use accomplishments made by the soldiers to pump himself up in a political ad.

You're right. Obama didn't do that. And your Magical Balance Fairy doesn't change squat. Obama's ad still exists and it's still in very bad taste. So you can go through a whole litany of what Bush did or didn't do (can't you liberal's debate anything without leaning on Bush) and it's not going to alter one bit anything that Obama owns. Your transparent deflections are getting boring.

As Lady J*zzer says... thanks for playing.

Agreed. I also agree with the way Bush talked about Bin Laden. He did not emphasize Bin Laden's importance, therefore lessening his status in the overall war on terrorism. AQ did not crumble when Bin Laden was killed...some people already knew that.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

The Prez should brag about getting bin Laden. The Republicons couldn't get him and he did. Romney would have been too scared to offend Pakistan.

Lousy deflection. The thread topic is the campaign ad, which is getting bad press on both the left and the right. What do you think about the ad?

Exactly what I said in my previous post - that I think the Prez should be bragging. The ad is right on!

:yeahthat: I think it just bugs the conservatives that Obama was able to do what the previous administration could not, so they marginalize it as "not a big deal" even though that's why we invaded Afghanistan in the first place. It was a big deal then.

The White House claimed that the banner was requested by the crew of the ship, who did not have the facilities for producing such a banner. Afterward, the administration and naval sources stated that the banner was the Navy's idea, White House staff members made the banner, and it was hung by the U.S. Navy personnel. White House spokesman Scott McClellan told CNN, "We took care of the production of it. We have people to do those things. But the Navy actually put it up." According to John Dickerson of Time magazine, the White House later conceded that they actually hung the banner but still insists it had been done at the request of the crew members.

Doesn't bug me.

I do not believe the carrier requested the sign. I was not a carrier sailor but I worked with them getting repairs or fabrications that a small ship is not capable of. I was amazed at there capabilities. IMO, if they had thought of it they could have made it.
