Nobody knew Palin and Ryan is one of the smartest guys in the room. Good luck getting hacks like Katie Couric to trip him up.

I agree. I'm sure he can answer "What newspapers do you read?" without stumbling.

Yeah, that's a real "trip up" question.

What happens to the narrative from the Romney camp about Obama not having any experience in the private sector? Ryan has never been anything but a politician, why is that good for him, but bad for Obama? He has never run a business, he has no foreign policy experience, yet the Republicans think he walks on water. This will be an interesting campaign from here out, and don't underestimate Joe Biden...he has made more than one supposedly "smarter" politician look stupid.

Ryan is a budget wonk archer - very few have his detailed knowledge of the federal budget, which is why he was chosen to lead the committee and the youngest ever to be chosen for that position. There is no substitute for knowledge - something that last 4 years have once again demonstrated.

I don't dispute Ryan's expertise in creating a budget designed to fundamentally change this country (and not for the better, IMHO), and being a budget "wonk" he should be in congress not next in line to be president. A little foreign policy experience might be nice on the Republican side, Romney certainly certainly doesn't have it. There is no substitute for knowledge in this area, and Romney/Ryan together don't have an ounce of it, something Romney's trip overseas once again demonstrated.

As for Ryan's experience.....he deals with theoreticals, most real numbers people do, and theory does not equal reality. Sure he can theoretically balance a budget and reduce the deficit, but his methods would change this country from the land of the free to the land of indentured servants......I believe the middle class would cease to exist and poverty and the elderly poor would be the result.

One can't help but wonder if Raees and @AdotMonet thought Obama was an idiot when he introduced Biden as the next president. Inquiring minds want to know . . . .

That's really funny.

"A budget wonk". Who says he is the great sage of economics and finance and budgets? You guys? Seriously? Eeeeeeeeeek! Seriously? Maybe you should define what you mean, exactly. Do you mean that he has figured new and ingenious (or perhaps not so new or ingenious given the predictability of his methods) ways to screw the average American while further enriching the usual suspects? He's going to lower taxes, etc. by off-setting expenditures (forget defense so what does that leave?) and closing tax loopholes (which ones exactly?) but given his amazing budget-wonk prowess and such as, it should be amazing to see. After all, this is the same guy who voted for two unfunded wars, the HUGE expansion of Medicare (Part D), the bank bailouts, etc. while concurrently cutting taxes MAINLY for the very wealthy. What does he know about budgeting and finance given what he advocates and votes for? Ya gotta luv it.

YOu mean as opposed to a president who is going to plug a trillion + dollers a year deficit with 80 billion a rear in new taxes? This guy?
