Poll: 74% support voter ID laws

From the Washington Post...

Q: In your view, should voters in the United States be required to show official, government-issued photo identification -- such as a driver’s license -- when they cast ballots on Election Day, or shouldn't they have to do this?

Almost three-quarters of all Americans support the idea that people should have to show photo identification to vote, even though they are nearly as concerned about voter suppression as they are about fraud in presidential elections, according to a new Washington Post poll.

This Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone July 18 to 29 2012, among a random national sample of 2,047 adults, including users of both conventional and cellular phones. The results from the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points. Sampling, data collection and tabulation by SSRS of Media, Pa.

Limousine liberals rejecting good, common sense. People without photo ID are unlikely to be legal voters. And a bipartisan group of Americans agree.

Since I was 15, I have never gone more than one week without a valid photo ID, and currently, I have two different photo ID's I can use to legally vote, a passport & a driver's license.

No, it doesn't, but it does a great job of demonstrating the tyranny of the majority. It is not up to the majority to restrict anyone's rights. Registration is sufficient. Voter ID is a clear effort to silence American votes. Your support of such an un-American effort is not surprising ...fascists will do whatever they can to seize power.

Yes, it is racist...and against the elderly, and students. Yes, you, Dr Shill are a racist fascist who hates freedom and America.

I guess it was the "tyranny of the majority" when Obama got elected. I guess it was he "tyranny of the majority" when Obamacare passed? I guess it was the "tyranny of the majority" when the Democrat budget was pass (oh wait... the president hasn't submitted any budgets)... well... it fits your narrative anyway. You sound scared.

Fred, you ever move and not get a new ID right away? Then you wouldn't be able to vote. Once, the DMV misspelled the street I lived on...this would've prevented me from voting under the laws you support...sorry, the infringements of rights you support. "Valid" ID involves far more than you may be aware of.

If you support this because you're aware how it will disproportionately affect minors, then you are a racist. If you are unaware how it will disproportionately affect minors, then you're stupid or in denial - its been well publicized.

So which are you, Fred....a racist, stupid, or in denial?

Affect minors? They can't vote anyway. And like I said, even after moving, I have new photo ID within a week. Minorities? The place where I work is half minority and they all have photo ID.

Colorado and other states are still permitting the provisional ballot, so even if you forgot your ID, you can vote and still bring in the ID later.

PV, what percentage of the population do you think doesn't have photo ID? 1% 0.5% And how likely are they to vote? Or decide an election?

Doesn't matter the percentage ...it's unnecessary and a blatant attempt to limit people's vote. Trying to restrict ab American from voting is pretty disgusting. There is no voter fraud, and you know it! The entire effort is a lie...which would also make you a liar.

So again, which is it: racist, stupid, or in denial? Any other excuse to support this effort is baloney!

A more truthful headline would that 74% of Americans want to deny the right to 11% of Americans to vote.
