This isn't a tired topic eh? Again, I support those that want to legally come here and make something for themselves and their families. There are ways. When I worked at the warehouse at Coors I worked with countless LEGAL migrants. Most of them spoke great English, and uh, ahem, were more than happy to teach me some colorfull things in espanol, LOL. Anyway, here's the link.

The amnesty goal is supported by many progressive groups, in part, because most Hispanics prefer generous welfare policies, and so usually vote for Democratic candidates.
In contrast, many Republican advocates and legislators favor high-skill immigration, partly because high-skilled workers spur the economy and lower unemployment.
Yessum. The guys I worked with at the warehouse were trained and in the end very proficient with the pul-pak style forklifts we were using. The lifts also used three thousand pound batteries that were in a complex load and un-load system that they also were trained and ended up being proficient with. There are great people, and then worthless and lazy, plain and simple. Excuse makers with no business telling our country what to do.
And legal immigrants are more likely to start up new small businesses verus natives. Maybe an amnesty without citizenship? This would increase the costs of Obamacare even if they were covered under their workplace.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I think amnesty without citizenship would be tricky, but that's feasible. As far as Obamacare, that whole mess is going to be extremely expensive no matter what, imo, but yes, I agree.
Edit:
Tell ya what, I've been to some pretty damn good tacoritas (hope I got that right) that were small and family owned holes in the wall that were totally legit. Took a TON of hard work, but they did it, hmmmmm.
Seems to me that there could be some sort of compromise - there's that nasty word again! Logistically shipping all the illegals back over the border just ain't gonna happen - and I don't agree with amnesty. I know this has been mentioned by some politician in the past: Set up some sort of means by which illegals are identified and given a certain amount of time in which to naturalize. If, by the end of that time period they have not acquired citizenship, then deport them and make them start over.
It seems to me that if a person is willing to leave their home and live undercover in order to work they are not bad folks to have in the county, but they need to follow the rules.
In the meantime, enforce the existing immigration laws.
Help, help, the Latinos are coming...(Oops...They're already here).... You guys still don't "get it" do you?
Perhaps you should check in with Hannity....He's obviously been "spoken to", and is starting to have a "change of heart" about "comprehensive immigration reform."

And you know for a fact they aren't? Oh, You DO know for a fact they aren't... Well, how many? 10-40-70 % How many?... Source?
I wonder how many Hispanic's taxes could be paid, or at least offset, if Mitt-Flop, the plastic RMoney, paid what everybody else was paying on their income, instead of hiding his money off-shore?

Sadly enough, you're probably right. Since the "problem" isn't going away though, perhaps we should seriously think about FORCING the bad apples to conform, ie; learn our history, learn our language, pay taxes out of whatever assistance their getting, if any, forcing people that hire illegals to go legit, etc, etc. LJ, you had mentioned that quite awhile ago. Going after employers. That would deffinitely be a good start, but the other things I mentioned are just as important. If they want to be here, then make them do something, just dreaming here. A lot do pay taxes, but a lot don't.

A bit off topic, but income taxes are high enough, and we're all paying the piper. When all of Obamas new policies and regs go into effect starting in January, believe that you will be paying at least ten to fifteen percent more. Romney is a peach compared to this guy. People like my Dad that make six figures will be paying over forty percent income tax. Uhhhh, where the fu** do we draw the line?
Anyway, too many people in this country either don't pay any taxes, or are considered to be too poor to contribute. I'm not even clearing thirty-four grande a year, my wife works, and we still scrape by. I don't have any more to give!!
Edit: Btw, no one, including yourself or I should have to pay ANYONE'S full way in this country. It wasn't built off of welfare and free sh**. It was built off of hard work and dedication and BEING LEGIT.
