Have a nice holiday weekend GOP

While families and small businesses struggle, some furloughed workers are digging into 401ks for living expenses some are actually wondering where the next mortgage payment will come from. The list of consequences to this shut down is long and ugly, but God forbid the House Republicans should miss their Columbus Day weekend.

Yeah, I'm sure this will earn them a lot of sympathy and respect.

But most of them are Democrat voters anyway...

Compassionate conservatives........ An oxymoron. Apparently it isn't just the Congress critters that have no concern for the average American it is also their kool-aid drinking minions. Do any of you conservatives here think this is going to increase tbe GOP voter base in 2014.

I read that stuff about furloughed workers dipping into 401k's, what a joke.

Can't make it 2 weeks without pay, how unprepared is that on an average of 80k a year plus plus plus?

Also these folks are going to get paid, they could have borrowed the money from another source, even their own bank that did not have consequences. They likely could have had a new credit card in hand (you know the president's solution to not having enough money to prop up a fancy lifestyle) in shorter time than their 401k money.

But since we are all in the know, everyone who has 401ks and IRA knows that these folks can likely take the money for 90 days and then give it back with no penalty. By that time they will likely get their govt payout for doing nothing (except help CNN and huffpo with headlines).

But aside from the fact that this is likely propaganda, folks that don't have a rainy day fund (like enough money to make it 6-12 months with a tightened belt) have no place contributing to 401ks. Someone should educate these folks about how to budget.....KIND OF IRONIC....they are out of work because no one in govt is made to have a budget, they just spend at will, at least they are paying more than the average american, which only hears about this on the news or message boards because the govt has little to do with helping our lives and all the stuff that hurts them is not shut down.

More arrogance from the conservatives, it's ok to make life difficult for the furloughed workers, it's all their own fault. That logic is right up there with seniors don't need social security, disability and unemployment are a waste of money, Medicare should just go away. I know you all believe in the Rand view of the world, but most Americans do not and you will be buried at the ballot box. Fortunately this is a much better country than you would try to create.

And to put an end to all of it all that is required is for the Democrats and the president to pass a sign legislation which keeps the government funded without funding the (un)Affordable Care Act for the next 90 days. Given that the Democrats feel that law is so important that it is worth partially shuttering the federal government over, why do they have such a hard time understanding that those opposed to the law feel that it is equally important to ensure that the populace of the Union isn't subjugated by that law?

Obviously there is still much contention surrounding the (un)Affordable Care Act, which doesn't appear is going to be addressed because the president isn't willing to negotiate on anything with regards to that law. The obvious choice then, since the Democrats are so upset over the consequences of the president being unwilling to negotiate, in good faith or otherwise, would be to fund the rest of government while the battle over the (un)Affordable Care Act continues, which just happens to be the first of the many choices that were presented to Obama before part of the government was shuttered.

Nice try PrintSmith......the Republicans own this shut down in the eyes of the American people. All your whining and squealing that it should be the democrats to blame is for naught. The court of public opinion had found the Republicans guilty,

Which proves nothing about the correctness of that opinion, but quite a bit regarding their ability to reason with any degree of success.

where is it written that if the majority of Americans disagree with PrintSmith then the majority of Americans must be wrong? Personally I think the Americans are right. And logic is on their side, all you have is wishful thinking. and anger on your side.
