Unfavorable ratings for both the Republican Party and the tea party have ticked up to record highs, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday evening.
Sixty-four percent of Americans view the Republican Party unfavorably, and 56 percent view the tea party unfavorably. Both are all-time highs in CNN's polling, although in each case, it's only a 2-point increase from a survey taken Sept. 27 through 29.
Prominent Republicans have also taken a hit.
House Speaker John Boehner's (Ohio) unfavorable rating is at 55 percent, up from 48 percent just before the shutdown, while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (Ky.) unfavorables rose to 42 percent from 39 percent before the shutdown. Members of their own party are also increasingly rating them negatively, according to polling. Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas), one of the most vocal supporters of the shutdown, saw his unfavorable rating climb 6 points to 42 percent.

Obama's Job Approval Declines to 44.5% in 19th Quarter
Three-percentage-point decline in approval from previous quarter
by Jeffrey M. Jones
PRINCETON, NJ -- President Barack Obama averaged a 44.5% job approval rating during his 19th quarter in office, a decline of more than three percentage points from his 18th quarter. That is one of the largest quarter-to-quarter declines of his presidency, behind a nine-point drop in his third quarter and a six-point drop in his 11th quarter.
In stead of predictions, why not talk about effect.
No one makes this seem less meaningful and more like team sports than you.
But yes your power hungry, violent team has a more favorable rating according to some polls at this time vs. the other power hungry, violent team.
To be clear all party types are power hungry and violent and really have nothing to be proud of, just about anyone can take a gun or stick and take things, even more people can hire someone to do the same.
The polls and the actions to not make it moral or right. All it means is that other people have been convinced to agree with you. People agreeing are not right or better or more moral, they simply agree.
Less than 50% of the people approve of the president. You mean if we had a vote of confidence, he would loose?
This actually may work out for him, given that he may be able to use the star wars empire tactic and pit the American People against congress and the courts and "temporarily" suspend their power to get his way. But people are giving up more and more of their money and wealth without any real resistance, so this may not be needed. These groups of people that are commonly worshiped by Americans can have approval ratings of 10-50%, can take our money, send their cops to pirate the roads, their employees to take folks kids, their pencil pushers to keep us from getting jobs and then keep winning the love by employing more and more of the people (when not shut down).
This party thing is bullshit most of all because in the long run, there is nothing the govt can do wrong. You see this when two huge groups of uneducated people (education is when you have learned enough to react to the world, so most Americans are not educated) keep running back to the same masters that screwed them, closed to new ideas, closed to reductions in govt force and closed most of all to paying our own way, that is why we breed, to make future slaves to pay our way. That is the new and dying America.
But wait, the polls say that one of these groups is edging forward, lets pretend that something will get better, that we will have more freedom, less govt force, more of our own wealth to share and use as we see fit, but it wont happen, in the end you will only have your candidate to talk about and what he is doing to you (you know he, because men still rule the world - in case LJ has not noticed she is often promoting men to rule her- even though we let a few women play so that rest of the women wont get pissed and overreact - they are good at that- as if there was something they could do about it).
Fred be clear, in the world of limitless choices they will choose between 7 and 7.000000000000001, you know the republicans or democrats.
Since people believe in little and the parties represent even less, moving from one to the other is not that hard again, like team sports, where the teams don't represent anything, not even a place. Like sports, party politics represents marketing and winning dollars. If they represented something aside from getting your money into the largest firms in exchange for forgettable favors, then perhaps there would be a decision to make.
But right now the polls say 7.00000000000001 so don't start pretending that 7 has anything to do with it, that would be nuts.

And after the fiasco of ACA website look for the Pres numbers to go down some more. People are finally getting the message.
OTN,
Didn't you get LJ's memo? The Republicans are all thats wrong with the world and the Dem are America's only hope.
And you make great points, the corporations have now bought both parties. Even Barack, longtime leftist knows the score, he had to play nice with the powers that be.
I was doing some trail maintenance this weekend with an avowed lefty who was so sick of the Republicans for the shutdown he honestly believed America would be better if it was a single party system of just the Dems. Like Detroit? Like the Soviet Union?
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
And there the best prediction of the future on this site. Again, this is the star wars scenario. We need to limit the power of debate so that someone can win.
