Biden's Foreign Policy Record

Chicken Little deja vu? No, we are not doomed. South Dakota has got their unemployment rate under 5%. The South also is lowering their unemployment rate as they continue to open up states. Stock market is in good shape, true, some industries are still having issues like travel and urban office space, but the economy is always evolving.

The "left-wing" people are under no obligation to reply, just as you aren't when they post something. Harassing people for not responding makes them less want to respond, and it makes me want to move this entire forum to The Ring. One more time: the Courthouse is for discussing ISSUES, NOT EACH OTHER.

As to Biden's foreign policy positions, he's put together a team including foreign-policy subject-matter experts, and would most likely return to the way previous administrations have functioned of relying on those who know the most to provide guidance and recommendations for courses of action. Frankly, I'd like to see more debate questions and coverage about foreign policy because I think it's just as high of a priority as climate change and the economy. Should Biden be elected, I will be watching closely how his administration handles China, Russia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.

Inside the Massive Foreign-Policy Team Advising Biden’s Campaign
If Joe Biden wins, here are some of the top foreign-policy experts who could be tapped for senior and midlevel jobs in the administration.
By Colum Lynch, Robbie Gramer, Darcy Palder | July 31, 2020

Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s team of informal foreign-policy and national security advisors has expanded to over 2,000 people, including 20 working groups spanning issues from diversity in national security to arms control, defense, intelligence, and homeland security, according to campaign officials and an internal list of the co-chairs of those groups obtained by Foreign Policy.

The organization of the group offers insights into how Biden would seek to mold his foreign-policy agenda and turn back some of U.S. President Donald Trump’s most controversial foreign policies, including the demonization of refugees and the curtailing of women’s sexual and reproductive rights around the world, should he win the November presidential election. It also sheds light on the coterie of behind-the-scenes advisors, such as the East Asia expert Ely Ratner and Daniel Benaim, a Middle East specialist with deep ties to Biden, who are likely to take up top and midlevel posts in the Pentagon, State Department, intelligence community, and other agencies if Biden is elected.

This was a good move.
Biden campaign restricts contacts with foreign officials
The move is meant to avoid even the perception of outside interference in the election amid what it calls a "poisonous environment” created by Trump.

I'm all for everything he plans to do here. We need a strong NATO to counter Russia's aggression to the east, and to have a united front against China and Iran's underhanded dealings. Climate change is a national security matter (even the Pentagon and all four military branches agree), so we need to re-join the Paris Climate Accord, and we need to start leading the charge for climate mitigation.

1. Roll back Trump tax cuts
2. DACA, path to citizenship, accept all asylum seekers
3. Stop deportations
4. Renter Paris Climate Accord

That’s from memory so I’m probably forgetting a few but those are what he promises to soon day one. These things will destroy us. We will never be able to get our county back. We will be relegated to the dustbin of history which will be rewritten anyway.

:hairfire:
1. Biden himself cannot do a damn thing about tax legislation that was passed by Congress.
2. Our immigration policies need serious consideration and there should be more resources for reviewing those who wish to come here, and helping those who are positive contributors stay and become citizens without having to jump through so many bureaucratic hoops. Asylum seekers need to be vetted, same as they had been before.
3. He's called for a 100 day moratorium on deportations while ICE and CBP policies are reviewed. It's an unrealistic moratorium, as there are people who need to be deported regardless. Let's not forget that he was part of the Obama administration which deported more people than any other administration.
4. Good. It's a sad state of affairs when the rest of the world is on board with the agreement, and we're sitting outside with Iran and Turkey.

A reality check on Joe Biden’s Democratic convention promises

Lot of fluff SC, but little substance.

What is Biden's position on:

1. getting the troops out of Afganistan

2. Moving the embassy to Jerusalem.

3. Getting the European's, eg. Germany to pay their share of NATO's budget.

4. The Israeli-UAE accord.

5. The Serbian - Kosovo accord.

6. Tariffs on the People's Republic of China

That is enough for now, anxious to get what you proffer as Biden's response and also your own opinion of these policies of President Trump.

Homeagain has her "king", MyMountainTown has its "queen". Right out of Alice in Wonderland, if she doesn't like what one posts then that post is banished to "The Ring". Or perhaps, in combination with Humpty_Dumpty "
"When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.' 'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

I trust you see the humor in this comment.

Hmm. I didn't realize I was suddenly promoted to Biden's foreign policy public relations person. Cool, I would love to finally make some money for a change. I answered Rick's question, I'm sorry that wasn't good enough and that I don't have time to do more (I have a project due for AlphaPixelReach, a Friends of Staunton Board meeting to prepare the agenda for, a Friends policy statement and annual President's letter to write, phone calls to make to recruit new Board members and Leadership Evergreen class participants, an email to write to the Mountain Area CO Gives Coalition of ~25 nonprofits to start organizing our annual advertising for CO Gives Day, and a Google map to create for the Conifer Chamber Holiday Gift Guide). You are welcome to do your own Google searches on Biden and find for yourself what his positions are on those issues, I provided my own viewpoint (as Rick always asks) and articles with Biden's own stated positions to provide further information. I am not going to go into Trump's policies, this is a thread about Biden and my views on Trump are well known.

I am not the queen (I was, however, once dubbed the "PCR Goddess" as a 1st year graduate student by post-docs who were impressed by my ability to get their PCR experiments to run when they couldn't. It's funny how some experimental techniques are really easy for some and not so for others), though sometimes I wish I were because I think I could do some good if I were in charge for a while. I am the owner of this business, which, whether realized or not, encompasses far more than just the Forums. We have a Terms of Service, and some additional stated rules and expectations for each Forum, and each member can choose to abide by those or not. Unlike Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube which is deleting content outright, all we do is move posts to the Forum where they are more appropriate (e.g. things get posted in the FAQ Forum all the time, no one ever complains about those being moved). The Ring is not a punishment, unless one is narcissistic and has to have everything posted be publicly viewable (like one of our infamous former trolls who dubbed The Ring a punishment for that very reason), it's simply a members-only Forum with more lax rules. Nothing is ever deleted here (except obvious spam), and it's definitely not about what I like or don't like (otherwise there'd be a whole lot more moved), it's about following the rules set for this Forum and others, nothing more, nothing less.

Our goal is to provide a place that is welcoming for our current and future members and guests, and not the hate-filled cesspool that is found on other social media sites. Yes, we have higher standards for what's considered inflammatory, rude, and disrespectful than other sites - is that really a bad thing? Do you want us to allow you to be attacked when you post new articles and your own thoughts and opinions? If you have a thick skin and don't mind, then The Ring is the perfect place to post, have at it. Others are more sensitive and have had enough of the hate and discontent; thus, we have more strict rules in the rest of the Forums.

Evidently you did not see the humor in the post, SC. Realize that you are the "Queen" and can unilaterally banish a post that you find egregiously bad to the Ring, no other person posting has that power. To paraphrase Mel Brooks "It's great to be the Queen".

Try this for Biden's foreign policy:

In 1982, as he was probably beginning to plan that campaign, Biden thought he could appeal to the perceived nativism of the Dixiecrats by publicly threatening to cut off aid to the Jewish state. In July of that year, he used an appearance of Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin before the Senate Finance Committee to threaten to cut off aid to Israel.

After enduring Biden’s fist-pounding tirade, Begin responded with the eloquence that was his trademark. Looking directly at Biden, he said:

Don’t threaten us with cutting off aid to Israel. It will not work. I am not a Jew with trembling knees. I am a proud Jew with 3,700 years of civilized history.

Nobody came to our aid when we were dying in the gas chambers and ovens. Nobody came to our aid when we were striving to create our country. We paid for it. We fought for it. We died for it. We will stand by our principles. We will defend them. And, when necessary, we will die for them again, with or without your aid.

(Emphasis added)

The always proper and dignified Begin then lectured Biden on his manners. Looking directly at him he said, “This desk is designed for writing, not for fists.” Biden’s behavior was so out of line that immediately afterwards, Senator Moynihan approached the Israeli Prime Minister and praised him for his cutting reply.

Also, I do not do Google searches, rather internet searches, via duckduckgo.
However I am glad to see that you are actively involved in the Mountain community. I did not see your opinions on the 6 points that I posited. Could you refer me to a post where i might find, for example your opinion on the new embassy in Jerusalem.

Replied by Rick on topic Biden's Foreign Policy Record
SC, while I appreciate the fact that you've come the closest to it, you still haven't addressed Biden's RECORD. By record I mean history, not what he promises to do or what the people around him want him to do, I'm simply asking about his PAST views and PAST actions. The guy has been in government for 47 years and from my research he has been wrong on almost every foreign policy issue he's participated in or spoke about. I realize this doesn't matter at all to people who can't stand Trump, but I do think Biden's record should be known, especially since there are very few people in the media willing to look back and discuss his horrible record.

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

Do any of you trust CNN any more? I just looked on their webpage and there isn't a single word about the leaked Hunter emails. They are squashing the story. It involves a sitting VP agreeing to quid pro quo deals and its looking more and more like there is some cover up of Hunter with minor girls. CNN is simply not a credible news source any more as they are proving daily. They are an extension of teh democrat party.

Perhaps it is because it is "fake news." Cite any credible news source that believes the Giuliani story is true.
