U.S. Capitol Locked Down As Far-Right Protesters Enter The Building

There is an 8 ft high fence with razor wire surrounding the Capital. National Guard troops are to be kept in D.C. for an indeterminate period of time.
Why?

Please answer. Over $500 million is being spent to keep the National Guard in D.C. to protect the Capitol. From what?
Yet it was a travail for Rep. Bobert to get her permit to carry a gun while walking unescorted to the Capitol from her residence. Hypocrisy anyone?

They must be afraid more people with Trump flags will try to take over the government with their flags and hats. Meanwhile our enemies around the world smell weakness and blood in the water.

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

Well, I have an answer but I doubt if many here will like or accept it. They’re keeping DC locked down so there can be no protests. They know the massive scale of the protests there would be if they didn’t have this convenient excuse. That optic would undercut their power and credibility. The Capitol protest was huge and it scared them - not because of the few idiots who broke a few windows and stormed the castle, but because of the millions who turned out to support free and fair elections and demand action by their representatives. Washington doesn’t answer to the people this way.

Looks like you were wrong once again.

The New York Times quietly retracted their initial story claiming Sicknick was rushed to the hospital with a bloody head where he later died after being attacked by Trump supporters. Fake news is on display every day and parroted by many who then go completely silent once the story is retracted. Promoting other’s lies is still lying.

The only death that is directly related to the Jan 6 incident is that of Ashli Babbit, an unarmed woman.
Shot by a Capitol policeman, name not released, to the best of my knowledge.
Wonder why?

This was the only shot fired. The officer has been identified, surely. The press had no difficulty in publishing the names of police that have been involved in shooting, Minneapolis, Ferguson, etc.

I had read somewhere that it was not a capitol police officer but, rather, a private security guard for a Senator.

On the other were rioters yelling “Stop the steal” as they hammered the panes with a flagpole, a helmet and even a bare fist.

In between was a Capitol Police lieutenant, scrambling to pile tables and chairs into a makeshift barricade. He had 31 rounds for his service weapon, and he has told others that he feared he might need them all.

At the height of the standoff, a woman named Ashli Babbitt tried to vault through a window. The lieutenant, his weapon already extended, pulled the trigger once, killing her in a confrontation that was captured on video and widely viewed around the world.

This is what the NYT wrote. " He had 31 rounds for his service weapon, and he has told others that he feared he might need them all.". To me that means he had one in the chamber and 2 15 rd. magazines. I find it hard to believe that a Lieutenant would make this kind of a statement. Again no investigation and refusal to tell the public the name of the shooter.

Yep, maybe I dreamed that or heard it on the radio. Cant find it now and can find everything pointing to the fact that it was a capitol police officer.

The confederate flag carrying rioter and his son were arrested and charged by the FBI. Turns out they were democrats posing as Trump supporters.
