Lets get real, my wife is dropping us off at the golf course this morning, we'll play 9 holes while she goes to the library and Vitimin cottage and when we are done we'll all go out for a nice lunch- We ain't that upset about the forest fires, in fact I think our feelings about them are boardering on "we don't care"....

Yeah, except this one wasn't natural, it was a busted gas line. One of my hubby's coworkers had his home destroyed in that too - took him 2 hours to find out if his kids were alright.

Spykster - should and are aren't the same thing. Depending on the financial situation of the person, home insurance could well have been dropped in favor of groceries.
I know that...however, I am not overly concerned about people that might deliberately be living over their means and playing russian roulette with their finances. I always spend responsibly, and have never ended up in the predicament you describe. I expect others to live that way as well, and if not, they can beg somewhere else...May sound harsh, but, that's just the way it is. What I have earned in my life is not part of the "share the wealth" philosophy, and I'll do with it as I please.
