Animals over people...I find it strange
Maybe because depending on the situation, people are better at fending for themselves than animals.
Oh boo-hoo! Or maybe it's because you just don't like people, probably because you never really fit in...Just a theory
My species comes first, then i'll start worrying about other species..ok
wha??? huh?? Your opinion of helping the fire victims sure has taken a 180 since page one of your original post. Maybe I'm having a postive influence on you! Or not!

Is the "Courthouse" the forum for the fire topic? I've been on the phone with family and friends all day monitoring the fire. I've also been watching news feeds to keep up-to-date. As soon as there's a fundraiser set up to donate to the families who lost their homes I'll be sending a check...how is that selfish??

I'm sure they have home insurance and if they don't what's 500, 1000 or even $5000 going to do for them? It's like when a guy at works wife would die or something somebody would buy a card, everyone would put a few bucks in it and they'd give it to him. Sorrry your wife died, here's a card with $87.25 in it..
ViceLewd...Since all people were located and are ok, the Humane Society, a non-profit, is stretched thin...they need money, food, cat litter, etc for the influx of animals, even though it's hopefully temporary. Most local hotels have specials for fire victims, and are even taking pets, but there has not been much interest, which means most displaced persons are with other family or friends...Plus, if the homes were legal, they should be insured...My advice to you, oh learned one, is to mind that gourd placed atop your sagging shoulders and not worry about what other, obviously more intelligent persons are doing.
The fire in California has already claimed at least 5 lives, over 60 homes.
Fires all across the country - welcome to fall, eh?
Spykster - should and are aren't the same thing. Depending on the financial situation of the person, home insurance could well have been dropped in favor of groceries.
