The US would be spending a whopping $200 million per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city.
"The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.
About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

Sometimes you have to be smart enough to understand what someone is presenting is BS.
$200M to visit a city?
Why don't we do a little math.
A highly paid Indian makes $30K a year. Lets say Obama wants to visit a section of town where everyone who lives there, women, child and fathers makes $30K a year or $82 a day. He is going to be there for 2 days but we want to be safe so we ask each person to leave for 1 week. Assume 1,000 people live in each city block and we want to clear out 50 city blocks for a week. This would cost $28M for 50 empty city blocks, so the security cost just went WAY down.
Who reported it? The article does not report who is making the claim. One part of the article says "$200 million a day" and another part says just "$200 million." I don't believe that it would be a per day charge that high.
I wondered when you guys were going to jump on this.
Here's the original "story," which was immediately picked up by right-wing blogs and, evidently by at least one news organization that didn't check the facts. Never mind it makes no sense or hasn't been vetted. Posting this crap and citing a blog as the source is the 285Bound equivalent of those attack ads we all hate, but hey, it's dirt, right?

Nobody has bothered to ask the White House if the newspaper report from India is true.
All the Daily Mail did is regurgitate the story, citing the New Delhi News article:
"President Obama's trip to India will cost the U.S. $200m-a-day, it was reported today."
RT, if you even bothered to read the story you listed as "where it was first reported" you'd immediately see that's not where it was first reported.
Cost of military personnel to handle Air Force one
Cost of food for the plane
cost of fuel for the plane
Cost of Secret Service
Cost of hotel rooms for President and staff
Cost of additional Indian Security
Cost of eating for him and staff
Cost of traveling around India
I do not think it still would come to 200 million a day. Maybe for the entire trip. I would want to see the unknowns though. Indian military security, Rough estimate on hotel cost for the 4 days would be roughly about 725740 thousand dollars, and that would be if in fact they rented the entire 540 rooms. Not counting discounts. Sorry folks I do not care for the guy but I think some bs is floating around.
