No disagreement with that statement.
Too bad we have regulated jobs to India.

Amazing. Another outrage-of-the-day shown to be wrong, and nobody that was supporting the outrage comes forward and says - at the very least - "My bad?"

Amazing, it's still a story and the original was posted by PineGy. I guess an the home town newspaper isn't credible for home town stories.

Press Trust of India (PTI) is India’s premier news agency, having a reach as vast as the Indian Railways. It employs more than 400 journalists and 500 stringers to cover almost every district and small town in India. Collectively, they put out more than 2,000 stories and 200 photographs a day to feed the expansive appetite of the diverse subscribers, who include the mainstream media, the specialised presses, research groups, companies, and government and non-governmental organisations.

PTI correspondents are also based in leading capitals and important business and administrative centres around the world. It also has exchange arrangements with several foreign news agencies to magnify its global news footprint.

Currently, PTI commands 90 per cent of new agency market share in India.

PTI was registered in 1947 and started functioning in 1949. Today, after 60 years of its service, PTI can well and truly take pride in the legacy of its work, and in its contribution towards the building of a free and fair Press in India. On its golden jubilee in 1999, President K R Narayanan said: “We got independence in August 1947. But independence in news and information we got only with the establishment of PTI in 1949. That is the significance of PTI…”

I seriously doubt it will costs the American taxpayer $200 million a day. It think the entire trip could cost us $200 million. However, why doesn't the White House disclose the costs?

New Dehli TV (NDTV) is not a home town newspaper and has nothing to do with the Press Trust of India, that I know of, other than subscribing to them (like AP here in the states). NDTV is like CNN over here. And if you want to believe a report from an unnamed source in India, go ahead. When I see it is the ONLY report, and no one else is independently reporting the same thing, then I tend to be a little skeptical. It could be the New York Times, quoting an unnamed source on a foreign story and I'd still be skeptical if no one else had the same information. Plus, of course, $200 million a day works out to spending $8.3 million dollars an hour, which also is suspect.

The easy thing to do would be to ask the White House, but then you'd think they're lying. The costs are public record and I'm sure you'll be seeing stories about the cost when the trip gets going. My guess is however how much lower the actual price tag is, you'll still be complaining.

But hey, you'll believe anything anyone tells you -- even if it makes no sense -- as long as it's a negative story about Obama, right? Or maybe you're just one of those people that sees stories in the checkout line at the grocery store and believes there really is a Batboy.

PineGuy,

The link you originally posted was credited to Press Trust of India, the Associated Press like agency of India. New York Times quotes "unnamed sources" all the time. Just for fun http://publiceditor.blogs.nytimes.com/2 ... ostscript/ Enjoy the read.

Could you explain the value of the U.S. media if they act as nothing more than a mouthpiece for the White House? Congress? Political Party? or academic thought?

Why doesn't the White House sell us on the value on the trip? Disclose the cost of the trip? and most importantly, tell us why Obama wants to participate in Diwali?

In the corporate world, if you company isn't cash flowing or doesn't have the money, you don't conduct corporate travel. They don't have the luxury of printing cash and forcing customers to pay for our services.

That doesn't hold true for the government. Spend, Spend, Spend - don't worry we will just go to the Xerox and print some Obama bucks and fly to India. I can only assume the reason Obama wants to participate in Diwali is to worship Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Wait, maybe Obama is the Lakshmi to the Indians. He certainly has been Lakshmi to the unions.

34 Warships Sent from US for Obama Visit

The White House will, of course, stay in Washington but the heart of the famous building will move to India when President Barack Obama lands in Mumbai on Saturday.

Communications set-up, nuclear button, a fleet of limousines and majority of the White House staff will be in India accompanying the President on this three-day visit that will cover Mumbai and Delhi.

He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, which will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two-day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea.
