It matters if the guy says God blocked the bullet but it turns out the gunman was a bad shot. If God really does block bullets, I wonder what his criteria is? Columbine or Platte Canyon or wars might be a better place to use that power. If he had a sense of humor (which I think he does) he could block every bullet in a war and really confuse the heck out of everybody.
Have you ever considered the phrase that God works in mysterious ways?
Have you considered the fact that you are just a mere mortal?
I know that is hard for an elitist like you to accept, but you just aren't in his league, so it is impossible for you to know whether he has a sense of humor, or if he truly allows free will, and every once a while, he interferes for a reason only He knows, and understands.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Angels walk among us"??
How to you know he's not an Angel, or God himself, here on Earth in mortal form testing you to see if you are worthy?

If you're not already burnt toast before the Apocalypse, you may get to see Him do this.
Folks can believe or not believe what they want. I'll tell you this, I'll make sure myself and my family are ready for our perception of His coming. If it doesn't as some believe? Well, no loss for them. If He does? Guess where I won't be?
From what I have studied in my faith, I damn sure ain't gonna make the mistake and be on the wrong side of The Gates.
