Hi Franz

How are you doing? Hope all are well. The latest developments back home
is terrible. I speak to my sister almost daily now. At the beginning,
there was no safety or security, people laterally were defending
themselves against thugs and escaped criminals. Now it is a bit better
with heavy existence of army forces every where.... Yesterday banks are
re-open and business is slowly back to normal. For the political
situation, I guess nothing to worry about... The new appointed prime
minister is running a political "cleansing" now to remove all the
corrupted figures, including to top secretariat of the ruling party...
so eventually situation will be better... And regarding the islmic
extremist, I'm not worried, they might have some popularity in the
street, but they do not have an effective political weight... People now
are crazy about this group of liberal young guys who unbelievably
managed to change in ten days what all the other opposition parties
could not do in the past 30 years :) ... Hopefully things will be changed
for better...

Please keep in touch and thank you very much for your concerns..

Best regards,,

Hani

Yeah, just like I said- It's not a terrorist backed revolution and these rednecks here are being minipulated by FOX News and AM radio to be terrified again. Right now "people" like Viking are ready to go to war with the freedom seeking protestors- Great Americans aren't they? Great country! I'm so proud

Well, VL. Aren't you the enlightend one.

Even youmust admit that any uprising in the middle-east can evolve into another event co-opted by the Muslim extremists.

Hopefully, yes, the people will prevail. Hopefully, as RockDoc's friend indicates, the extremists are only a minor charachter in this event.

I guess most everyone in this Forum is done with discussing Egypt.

Its not in the news today, so I guess its no longer important that the Egyptian people are sacraficing their lives for their individual freedoms!

Or maybe this issue, to Americans, is nothing more than one more devisive event ocurring in the world which causes us here, at home, to become further divided between a Liberal Elite, who so callously imply our Nation is at fault for all of this, and the remainder of us, who think there is clearly a negative outcome from the MB gaining control in one more Middle-East nation.

You know who I'm referring to: Those Americans who represent a Majority and truly are the most common of the American People.

How is it not our fault? We put Mubarak in there and kept him there with our 1.5 billion dollars a year...Thats Billion with a B. It's funny- weve been shoveling cash at Mubarak for 30 years and now he's worth 70 billion dollars! He's richer than Bill Gates! Meanwhile most Egyptians are living in squalor. Lets take 69 billion back, keep it, or give it to the Egyptian people. We can let Mubarak keep a billion for himself for being our puppet at the expense of his people for 30 years..It's a crime and were the criminals...So lets not be ashamed to admit it..Were not perfect, and it's not Liberal vs conservative- Most of this occured under Democrats so don't you conservatives get your panties all in a bunch again..

VL I believe your numbers are skewed. I would estimate alot more than what you listed.

Over 250 billion in weaponary alone since 1950. I do agree with you though, the United States has been providing aid to a socialist dictator. Just look at this record and the state of Egypt. I believe one of the main reasons is the Suez Canal. Alot of oil goes through there daily, that is not counting the oil pipline that goes through Egypt. The people of Egypt are tired of high unemployment, rising prices etc. Tired of a dictatorship head of state. Should we been there to help the people. NO. What would we do. Send in the military. NOT, already spread to thin. Besides they have thier own. Let the Egyptians deal with this. The outcome will be their future. We will have to either support the new government or work out deals with them. The Suez Canal is critical to the whole thing. Yes we can go around. It adds a week or two on the way to the IO. From what I have been reading and listening to, the Muslim Brotherhood is not wanted as a governing body either. They want a democracy, to be able to make thier own choices, live thier own lives.

As for S. Palin. She does alot of talking, but says nothing. She really needs, along with some in Congress, to learn the Constitution, bill of rights and the rest of our laws. She didn't do a very good job in Alaska either. She ran on a ticket for the Republican Party as Vice President canidate. That does not make her the leader of much of anything. If she was and is so damn good, then why did she step down as the Gov of Alaska before her term was up. As a Republican I would never vote for her.

Reports have it that the US already is sending military toward Egypt. Likely this has more to do with keeping the Suez canal operational and the flow of oil going than anything else. Let's face it. We can stick our head in the sand and say that we do not need oil from the ME, or look reality in the eye, realize the potential chaos the US would enjoy .. not.. if our oil supply were cut off even for a week or two. Yes, the Suez Canal is critical and the US is going to protect its own interest.

In reference to VL, I'm reminded something my mother always used to say "Leere Töpfe klappern viel" or Empty pots make a lot of noise. Never have I found a more appropriate use for that phrase.

I'm with you on a lot there but how can you call him a "socialist dictator"? We gave him about 70 billion over 30 years and he's walking away with about 70 billion...Socialist means to share a little-He didn't share or invest any of the money in the country. He saw the money as his salary.
