What happened to the problem of illegal aliens?

towermonkey, they pay taxes because they can't avoid them. Since they came here illegally, you expect anyone to believe they are the model on insured drivers? And they are incarcerated only because they are poor? Get a grip on reality.

They only pay sale taxes for the most part. They don't pay state or federal income taxes, FICA, Medicare. They pay use taxes only.

The apartments or houses they rent...the taxes are paid by the owner...which some would argue they pay.... but the truth of the manner....places where the illegals have moved in - they have depress the tax values and slow down the normal redevelopment of the area. They put further strain on the area by overloaded the schools and other public services.

If illegals are paying income taxes they are doing so with a stolen ID, another criminal act. Guest workers who have proper entry paperwork and work permits do pay taxes.

How come you crackers never complain about the people that hire them?

Bingo! That is why the current illegal immigrant policy is so very popular with Democrats. They want to abuse people who are the most needy by not paying them scale wages. Their "concern" for the welfare of the poor illegal immigrant is really only to take advantage of the disadvantaged. They know that if they were allowed into this country legally with a green card, they would have to be paid much more in wages.

Because while they may support the problem, the sole responsibility for being illegal rests with the people who ELECT to enter the US illegally. People who hire illegals are not THE problem even if you want to make them responsible for the people who are breaking the law. SIMPLE. And stop with the exploitation BS. It is not unique to illegals. Employers are always going to look for inexpensive labor be it legal or illegal.

That may be true, but all the laws enacted that deal with illegals after they arrive do nothing to stop them from coming. We must secure our border and stop the problem at the source......until we do that, I don't care how many laws we put on the books we are not actually solving the problem.

You are most correct. This is indeed where it needs to start.

The people who hire the illegals are the vile vermin. The illegals would not cross the border if the employer was not willing to take advantage of them. The liberals are the villains.

Boarder crossing for work equates to survival. It will take place regardless of the ease of with which employment can be found. Ready employment coupled with poorly-secured boarders only acts as encouragement. The liberals aren't the villains. The villain, if you must have one, is poverty in Mexico. If conditions there were more conducive to survival, the illegal migration would not be nearly the issue it is. If you want to place blame, let it fall on Mexico's leadership, or the lack there of. Mexico is where the problem originates and where it needs to be solved.
