What happened to the problem of illegal aliens?

Sounds good to me, after all, the president we have currently just seems to be a symbol and not a leader anyway. He does all the talking and congress makes all the decisions.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

California's criminal alien population risesThe number of criminal aliens incarcerated in California rose to 102,795 in 2009, a 17 percent increase since 2003, federal auditors reported Thursday.

This isn't cheap. Nationwide, the Government Accountability Office reports, it costs well over $1.1 billion a year for states to imprison criminal aliens -- those who committed a crime after entering the United States illegally. California, moreover, is more expensive than other states. GAO auditors estimated California spends $34,000 to incarcerate a criminal alien for one year; in Texas, it's only $12,000.

The audit, requested by Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-San Jose, will provide ammunition for states' perennial effort to secure more federal reimbursement dollars.

More than one in four of the illegal immigrants imprisoned in California are behind bars for drug offenses. Many are also repeat offenders. GAO auditors say that, based on a survey, criminal alien inmates have been arrested an average of seven different times.

Teachers and all of those Democrats. You know, the ones who don't have jobs and spend all of their time plotting to take away the hard working republican's money. Don't forget those damned firefighters who are screwing us over. Oh yeah, and the police. They are all corrupt anyway.

Yep...I think I saw a walfare queen drive by my house earlier today. She was black and she was driving a pick cadilac convertable. Looked like government cheese in the back seat.

That anybody hates teachers, fire fighters, police, etc. is a straw man, put up to hide and protect the unions.
I personally know, like, and have family members who are teachers. It’s the union leaches that I find to be useless. There is no place for a union in the public sector.
But then this thread is about illegals. Unions only came into this thread because of the lack of effort and leadership they have shown in addressing the problem. I would venture a guess that not too many illegals are working the docks or the commercial construction sites in New York or New Jersey. But in the rest of the country I think you’d have a hard time finding a union shop, outside of the public sector. Face it unions are going the way of the dodo bird.

Oh I think I got it ...You don't mind if most of our money goes to corporate walfare, to a handful of filthy rich defense contractors and bankers- but you will not stand for it being spread out over millions of teachers who live in the community, spend in the community, and teach our children in the community!...

Yeah, I think I got it now.

Once again you are putting up a strawman. There is absoultly nothing wrong with paying good teachers a good wage, just as there is nothing wrong with paying bank tellers or factory workers a decent wage. You do understand don’t you that banks and defense contractors hire millions of US workers? Keep in mind that not all banks or defense contractors are giant corporations, many are small businesses the backbone the bulk of the US workforce.
This thread is about illegals, not about useless unions.

I'm all for jobs programs- job programs to build things we need like roads, bridges, dams, hospitals, schools, high speed rail- but not a job program that creates weapons of mass destruction. If the government is gonna pour billions into the economy to prop it up, lets get something we need and can use out of it-Not another nuculear sub. The cold war ended in the 80's, remember?
